Hi guys.

Im planning an upgrade of my GTX 285 to an ATI due to a lots of NVDA OpenGl Exception freezes.

Whats the most powerful for an ASUS P6TD Deluxe?

And whats the best cost/benefit option?

Wait to see official support from 10.8.3 for the new AMD cards.

Also DSDT injection of the GTX 285 would solve those issues in most cases. See my guide here:

Or this EVGA GTX 660 if you feel like staying with nvidia.

It's absolutely rock solid here on 10.8.2.
No fan noise, everyday temps are good (just below 40 celcius) and best of all no freezes. I don't have anything except Trine 2 and Left 4 Dead at the moment, but OpenGL game performance is good so far at 1280x1024. OpenCL works out of the box, didn't need to patch anything.

I had to delete all the NVDA* and GeForce* kexts from the 10.8.2 App Store installer in order to install with this card plugged in, then install the latest nvidia drivers. The card auto-inits, no need for GraphicsEnabler or anything else. It works completely unpatched.
From what I understand, 10.8.3 will have support for the GTX 660 out of the box.

HDMI and display-port untested, I don't have any displays with those ports.

Anything else you want to know just ask.

I second that gtx 660 Gringo Verlmelho Edition (GVE), it boasts some pretty tasteful benches as well as not have all the quirks as previous nVidia cards had.

This one's on the house!

Core 2 Duo E8500, GTX 660: 32.80

Same hardware, GTX 460: 31.32

Same hardware, 9800 GTX+: 27.14

Keep in mind that Cinebench is outdated, it's OpenGL 2.1.
Mountain Lion itself supports up to OpenGL 3.2.
The GTX 660 supports up to OpenGL 4.3!

As the results show, Cinebench is practically useless.

What happens when you boot with DSDT=none?

Please extract a clean DSDT on either Windows or Linux and attach that as well - with the GTX 285 installed.

Does your motherboard have two Marvell 88E8056 ethernet devices? There's code for it in your DSDT twice.

To verify PCI device locations so that they can be injected properly:
Install LSPCI: http://www.projectos...?showtopic=2480
Reboot and post the output from lspci -nn

I dont have any kernel flag, just this one: USE Kernel cache

– What happens when you boot with DSDT=none?
If i remove the DSDT from Extra foder i can boot with no problem

Do i need Windows or Linux to Extract DSDT? If yes, i can use PArallels??
Or just remove the DSDT from EXTRA folder and extract from MAC OSX?

If you don't have Windows installed, get the Ubuntu "Desktop CD" from here: http://old-releases..../releases/9.10/
Then follow the instructions for Ubuntu from here: http://www.insanelym...ng-acpi-tables/
Save TennisGeek's Python script to a flash drive or email it to yourself. Then run it in the live environment and save the output to the flash drive or email it to yourself.
Don't extract from OS X.
You can't use Parallels because then you'll get the DSDT from a virtual machine, not from your PC.

DSDTSE is a DSDT editor, it's not an "LSPCI tool". It has nothing to do with LSPCI.

After you reboot, before doing LSPCI -nn do sudo update-pciids first.

i used to have a asus x58DE
I Have used a ati 6870
but the best one i have used in mountian lion is the gigabyte wind force 670 GTX 2gig ram
Which im still using.

Tks Gringo. After finish the job im doing i will do that.
That will take a big time. I dont have idea how to setup Linux and OSX in the same HD.
Do you think thats impossible to make a test extracting from os X?

"Live CD" means you don't have to install anything. it runs entirely off of the CD and RAM. The more RAM you have the better it'll run.

Burn it to a CD and boot from it = fully functional Linux desktop environment.
