I followed this guide, http://wiki.osx86pro...ps#Optiplex_745, to install Lion onto my Dell 745.

I managed to get the installation to work fine, however I am having the following problems that is preventing me from continuing the configuration process of my installation (installing kext, installing chameleon, etc...)

1) Everytime I boot, I have to use the bootflag "-x -v rd=disk1s2". I am forced to boot into safe-mode. If I don't boot in safe mode, I get stuck on a black screen with a cursor. I also tried using the bootflag "GUI=No GraphicsEnabler=No" to see if that would fix the problem so I don't have to boot into safe mode. However, that didn't fix the issue.

2) Because I have to boot into safe mode, I can't mount my USB drive which contains all the kext and tools I need to configure the installation.

The specs of my dell are:

  • Model:Dell Optiplex 745 DCSM
  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.40GHz
  • Front Side Bus: 1066MHz
  • 4096KB L2 Cache
  • 4096MB Dual PC2-4200
  • Hard Drive: 500GB Sata
  • Ram Speed: 533MHz
  • 3.0GB/S Link Speed
  • 64-Bit Capable
  • Radeon X1300 256MB
  • CDRW/DVDRW,DVDROM Sata Optical Drive
  • Ethernet Functional
  • Audio Functional
  • Video Functional

Using the bootflag "Graphics Mode"="1024x768x32" also didn't work.

I used this method to install lion, http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=256729.

Could the issue be related to my graphics card, Radeon X1300? Or the integrated graphics card, GMA 3000?
