I'm attempting to install Snow leopard on my Dell L502x. I used the legacy iboot in combination with iatkos to install mac. I had to boot the DVD in safe mode (-x) and had to wait unusually long for iatkos to begin booting but it worked and I was able to mac successfully. However, it will not boot.
I was wondering if anyone else had success with a hackintosh dell XPS 15 and if anyone knows if the Nvidia 540m was compatible yet.

I still cant get it to boot, I used qoopz 10.3.0 kernel (I dont think the stock supports the new i7 yet), I disabled sound and installed AHCI drivers. I get either a kernel panic or the system halt, it goes so quick i cant see what is causing it.

Try this parameter when booting: GraphicsEnabler=No
I installed official 10.6.3 on L502x, but no further try

I have the l702x HD model and i uses Tonymac's nvidia kexts that can be found here http://www.tonymacx8...php?f=15&t=8157.
I havent figuered out the audio either. I dont want to swap out the intel wireless have you made any progress in getting it working?
iboot 3.0 wouldnt work for me either kept on crashing had to load up the legacy and use the FixFSB=Yes and PCIRootUCID=1 to get it to install. did you have to do the same as well?
Is your installation loading up for you as well? I can only get into os x with the iboot cd.

To get the installation to boot I used the legacy iboot and iatkos. I used -v and GraphicsEnabler=No and it booted right up. For the installation i unchecked EVERYTHING except for the base system. A retail dvd is probably better for our laptops. After installation I had to use the legacy iboot to boot the partition with -v and GraphicsEnabler=No. I think the legacy iboot is necessary because the stock mac kernel doesn't support the new i7 processor. Has anyone gotten Audio or video to work? If so, how?

Steve - I am reinstalling OS X but i was about to get a 21fps on cinebench.. eh. I am not saying it is 100 with QE but i am able to get its native resolution with tonymac's nvidia kexts.
Has anyone else been having problems with the track pad sensitivity? when i raise the speed it becomes spastic and jumps all over the place.

Hey guys!
I'm also looking for a solution for my new L502X. Right now i'm still collecting information, cause i need this device to work with. If i get my old one back, i can try some things on this one...so far i'm just looking for information.
maybe you should take a look at here:
[GUIDE] Dell L701X (xps 17 late 2010), 10.6.6

That's good news on the video front - I have a L702x on order.
The trackpad has always been an issue for me; in every machine I've hacked it acts like that (Mini 10, Inspiron 1525, L701X, Dell E1705). I finally bought an Apple bluetooth trackpad which now I simply cannot do without; it not only works perfectly but is very comfortable to use and much better (in my opinion) than the built-in or a mouse.

My biggest issue with the l702x are the boot loaders, I cant seem to get osx to boot up with out the boot cd.
I tried resetting the partition to be active and even did a manual install with Chameleon 2 RC5 760 and the package installer. Also tried to use tonymac's multibeast.
Has anyone have any luck getting it to boot with out the cd? Is it something in our Bios?

Edit: HEre is a more streamlined way to get it installed. There are still quite a few things that are not working
You need
1. iBoot legacy latest version
2. 10.6.3 retail dvd (usb does not work)
3. 10.6.6 combo update
Here is how you install
1. Boot with iBoot legacy dvd
2. swap the disk for 10.6.3 dvd and hit f5
3. select the dvd and press spacebar
4. Type "-v FixFSB=Yes GraphicsEnabler=No" without the quotes and press enter
5. This will bring up the installer after a series of prompts
6. install nomall with typical selections.
7. once done it will reboot but it will fail to reboot on its own.
8. So put the iboot cd in and still use "-v FixFSB=Yes GraphicsEnabler=No" parameters to boot the hard drive this time.
9. Download and copy multibeast.
10. download and install 10.6.6, but before restarting at the end of the install, run multibeast and select easy beast and install
11. Restart
What is not working
1. Sounds
2. Intel Wifi (I replaced it with a Dell 1510 wifi adapter and it works out of the box)
3. Nvidia adapter - no native resolution (dont know why it is not working yet)
4. USB - i cannot figure it out. I heard that it had to do with irq conlicts between HPET and USB. Have not tried deleting the HPET kext. Apparently that is supposed to fix it but also breaks power mgt.
5. Cannot boot from the hard drive directly.

With 10.6.0 retail dvd , sound works fine but once you upgraqde to 10.6.6 it starts breaking up. SO may be there is something 10.6.0 that we need to keep and reapply it after the combo update
With 10.6.3 retail DVD, sound breaks from the beginning.
