tachyphagia
I am using the distro Snow_Leopard_10.6.1-10.6.2_SSE2_SSE3_Intel_AMD_by_Hazard. When i get to the darwin bootloader, no matter what mode i enter (verbose or safe) it does not work. Occasionally whenever i boot it in, i will see a grey apple screen but it dissapears quickly and it reboots again. I am using Samsung R440-JA02SG The specifications for this laptop is Processor: Intel Core i5 460M (Instructions: SSE(1,2,3,3S,4.1,4.2), EM64T, VT-x) Motherboard: Intel Havendale/Clarkedale Host Bridge HM55 RAM: 2x DDR3 4096MBytes Kingston 5B0ED67A Graphics Card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 Please advise on what i should do! Makaan
I recomend thay you should try with retail MacosX DVD and also you may try to boot with boot flag : cpus=
tachyphagia
Sorry for the late reply, and thanks for all your solutions. I have not gotten my retail disk, so when i get it tomorrow, i'll let you know whether it will work! Thanks again *I'm unable to burn the dmg on my DVD+R DL, so please give me awhile to try out! :X
tachyphagia
Thanks to DefKorns, i managed to install 10.6 with #####, but whenever i install an update, 10.6.6 or 10.6.7, i'll get a kernel panic just a minute before the installation is done. I am unable to run ##### because ##### needs to be installed after the update. What should i do? By the way, thanks for all of your replies and your helpfulness!
mootrix
Try booting with a legacy kernel to fix your problem, or you could post the details of the panic. Also I have had a lot of trouble with that image but it worked with the retail version, I think that image must be very temperamental. What should i do? By the way, thanks for all of your replies and your helpfulness! There are some kexts which must be removed before upgrading. SleepEnabler is one of them, they make special versions of that kext for each update which are installed after the update. Is it installed under 10.6? Other ones you must have, such as fakesmc, so did you run ##### at the 10.6 stage so that famesmc is in /Extra ? Thanks for you reply, i'll try out tomorrow. I'm using SL Retail Disk 10.6. I didn't remove anything before the update as i did not know what to remove. I also did not run ##### at the 10.6 stage because tonymacx86 says run after the update. So do i only need to remove SleepEnabler kext? By the way, the kernel panic image is here Thanks for all of your help!
mulcyber
I doubt that you have SleepEnabler installed. / is the root directory. /Extra is the directory created by running ##### and it contains fakesmc which is vital. Better, is if at some point you should have to start over, then I would try to get a DSDT.aml from either the tonymac DSDT database or use MaLd0n's Auto-Patcher found on this website, for your motherboard. Put the ready to use DSDT.aml on the Desktop, and then run #####, choose Userdst. Reboot, and see if everything works. Then install the Update and run ##### again, I don't think you need the DSDT.aml on the Desktop again. I've found that most often failure to boot after install is due to graphics card complications, but sometimes conflicting kexts (drivers). Don't forget to check for /Extra/fakesmc During the initial install, often a generic video driver is used, not the true driver for your graphics cards. Do you have reason to believe that your ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 is supported? There was no support for it last year. Is the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 mentioned as now being supported in the 10.6.7 update? ----------------------------------------------------- http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/lofiversi...hp/t250256.html Mobility HD5470 QE/CI ! QUOTE (wen1 @ Mar 12 2011, 02:20 PM) * Sorry, i did not even get to installing these kexts. As soon as i install 10.6.6 i am getting a kernet panic. Now it hangs at "DSMOS has arrived". Boot on laptop with GraphicsEnabler=No, install kexts with kext utility, configure smbios and com.apple.boot.plist and reboot. Yes it's hard to install, if you have switchable graphics (core i) there is another method: Activate switchable graphics, install mac osx on the laptop. With GraphicsEnabler=No install 10.6.6 Don't reboot, then ##### with kabyl's boot. Configure smbios and com.apple.boot.plist, install the kexts. Reboot, desactivate switchable graphics, and boot on mac osx. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You might want to read the thread above. As of March 19, 2011 it doesn't seem fixed.
tachyphagia
so basically i need only fakesmc right? and by the way, does installing a DSDT affect the mainboard? will my warranty get voided? sorry for the stupid questions ><
mulcyber
so basically i need only fakesmc right? and by the way, does installing a DSDT affect the mainboard? will my warranty get voided? sorry for the stupid questions >< No. That you don't already have a fakesmc in your /Extra/Extensions folder is a problem. It means that you didn't use an install guide or didn't follow the instructions correctly, so that you may have other things wrong. It seems to me that you have a major problem in that your video card is not supported by a Hackintosh installation. I mean you have no driver for it, at least I couldn't find one, maybe you will have better luck. You can void your warranty by overclocking which affects a physical component, like your ram or your cpu. A DSDT.aml is a file and is not related to flashing/upgrading your Bios firmware. The DSDT.aml file does work at a fundamental configuration level though, but no void of the warranty. There was a cmos reset problem but that is fixed by having a correctly patched DSDT.aml. Good luck, over and out.
