anantha11 Posted August 10, 2006 Share Posted August 10, 2006 hello, i currently have a 120gb drive taht i ahve spilt into 3 partitions, my windows xp where i ahve stored my information such as photos svideos. and i dont want them deleted is there a way to just format one of my drives and leave my windows drive unaffected. example, windows is installed on drive can i just format drive e and install osx on that. if you can then i can i know how. many thanks in advance and any help will be greatly appreciated. When you boot up the OSX installer DVD and get into the installer, the first thing to do is to format a partition in HFS+ format to put OSX on. You do this by going to the Utilities menu and selecting Disk Utility. You select the partition on the left. On the right, be sure the format is set to MacOS Extended Journaled and then click Erase. Later in the installation, before clicking the Install button, you want to first click the Customize button and choose packages that pertain to your computer. lukelee Posted August 10, 2006 Share Posted August 10, 2006 Remember, as you've already got 3 partitions you don't need to change the partition tables at all. Do not delete any partitions. anantha11 Posted August 11, 2006 Author Share Posted August 11, 2006 ok thnx,no its just that every guide i read its telling me to do new partiitons and i was just wodering thnks brothers! oh yea theres one more thing then how do i install cent os. so i just pretend to install windows first and then mac osx since all the guides tell me to intall osx first.
