Hi man,

you said you found something that could enable Hackintosh with VIA VT1828S audio card ? I would love to try it on my P7P55D mobo because the only thing I had to work was VoodooHDA but sound was {censored} (little buggy effects) and it stopped working (dunno why...)

Anyway, if you have this message please keep me in touch,

Bests

Max

I have found a solution for the VT1828S sound card.

It seems prettx good for 10.6.2

Have you the same feedback?

Any update on the VIA® VT1828S? I too can't get it to work :)

Appreciate if somebody could feedback on how to make it work in 10.6.3 or even 10.6.2

I don't mind not upgrading to 10.6.3 so long as audio works.

Just checking as well if there is an update on this particular sound kext?

Thanks

up to this thread, it's the only working feedback from a VT1828S chips working.

I found a special VoodooHDA for the P7P55D motherboard, but with mine, the sound is still buggy.

http://www.kexts.com/view/432-voodoohda_p7...owercable).html

dgeordgy, what was the solution you found ?

In my case, i can't found any AZAL, HDEF or anything in my DSDT, so can't patch.

HDAenabler give me a intel built-in audio, but no device, so no sound.

Hi guys! For too many days i searched a solution for this damned sound card ( Integrated Audio of P7P55D ).

My problem was the audio lag, for example when I copied a file or directory or when i cleaned the trash, the sounds were played after ~2 seconds.

However I test all the version of voodooHDA, because there is no kext for VT1828S ( or i can't found ).

Well, in my case this kext has solved the problem of the lag, but microphones ( rear/front ) won't work.

Hi guys, some news ( i guess bad ) ..

I make a codec dump from linux, and i tried to patch applehda with applehdapatcher1.20 but the app says

So, another hole in the water...

I post the codec_dump.txt of via vt 1828s and of applehdapatcher...

Stay tuned..

Good news folks!

In my various tests whit different versions of snow leopard i remembered a package in the hazard dvd 10.6.6i for the vt1828s. I extracted that package whit pacifist, and i've tried to install.

Well, they worked! Sounds, no lag, and the microphones ( rear/front ).

Following this issue on code.google I tested this kext and it worked for me, better than hazard package.

Before install it:

Note: Step 1 and 2 may be ignored if you use the 'voodoohda-unistall' from terminal.

0. Obviously remove the AppleHDA.kext from S/L/E. ( do backup of it )

1. Remove VoodooHDA.kext in S/L/E (System/Library/Extenstions)

2. Remove VoodooHDA.prefpane in Library/PreferencePanes and System/Library/PreferencePanes

3. Repair disk permission and rebuild system cache ( Use Kext Wizard or Kext Utility )

4. Reboot

5. Install VT1828S package

5. Install the kext in S/L/E. ( copy with finder or use Kext Wizard )

6. Do step 3 again

7. Reboot

8. Boot whit -v kernel flag

9. If you see the configuration of sound we're on good way.

10. Play a system sound, and record a sound ( quicktime does that )

11. If you want, install the VoodooHDA PreferencePane. ( extract and double click on it )

Report if you have problem.

:D

PS: Apps and prefPane in the attachments

PPS: Skype cause delay in my case. Use with carefully. I solve only with a time machine restore.

Thanks for the instructions and the link but I can't get it to work.

I had VoodooHDA.kext installed which produced crackly audio.

followed your instructions and when booting in verbose mode it froze.

So I booted in safe mode -x but now i don't have any audio at all.

What could I have done wrong?

I'm working on a Asus p7p55d e mobo.

(sorry for my not so good english)

@kenshin

thank you for all your help.. i installed package and everything worked great except that i can't seem to control the volume. the volume icon moves up and down but the sound does not change on line output but if i plug in a headphone it would work properly.

is there a fix for this?

Thank you again for your help... i can't express how much fun I am having with this project =).

@pinarek

Unfortunately only 2.1 sound.

@tuinbroek

Which version of SL do you have?

@feeling100

I have never encountered this problem. What kernel do you have?

However guys, I sang victory too soon.

The procedure worked great for me, but I don't {censored} know why after 3-4 days the lag returns!!

Damn! This problem is driving me crazy!

One thing I noted when playing a song or any sound, the lag disappears and the system sounds plays immediately. It's like if you put in "standby" the sound, but when is "loaded" the songs or system sounds plays without lag.

At this point I do not know what to do anymore. I'm defeated.

Hello.

After the ten-millionth recovery I discovered what it does go haywire VoodooHDA. SKYPE!

On startup everything was fine, after I started skype delay is back!

So, do not use it!

Stay tuned.

Hooray I found the solution to the audio glitches. After following the guide installing snow leopard on P7P55D-E PRO using ##### and ##### I was disappointed to come across the audio glitches. I tried installing the DSDT file and the power chord trick with no luck. With my profire2626 and tascam 1082, these pops and crackles drove me mad. I had to set the buffers to 512 to get a crackle free performance from Logic. I noticed that when ever there was a sudden increase in CPU usage there were crackles and pauses of playing sound. My theory was that it's a timing issue at the kernel level due to the fake smc kext. But hey I am no computer expert!

So I skipped the last step of the guide; installing #####. Yes that's right do not install #####. Only caveat is that I have to use the ##### cd to boot my hackintosh all the time. So I do not have an extra folder, no fake smc kext, no voodooHDA kext and no kext for LAN. But every thing is working fine.

Now I can set my buffers to 128 with no crackles. I have set up an aggregate device with motherboard audio+profire+tascam. The profire and the tascam clocks are synched to the spdif out from the motherboard.

So I suggest a fresh install and do not install #####, use ##### CD to boot the machine.

However, using the ##### cd, yes you don't have extra folder, but the kext will be loaded anyway.

Use kext wizard and check the kext loaded ( like fakesmc, voodoohda or other ).

The crackles, usually the kext NullCPUPowerManagement resolve the problem.

Thank you for your reply.

The only way I know to check the loaded extensions is using system profiler. And it does not show any of the hacked kexts.

Thank you SO much for all your postings regarding the P7P55D motherboard and its sound problems. I have learned a lot from them but still my sound doesn't work properly. I noticed what you said about Skype, but I don't have it installed yet so I don't know what else the problem can be.

I wanted to ask you what was in your Extras folder, so I can double check.

I believe it could be a problem with the onboard sound card and my Audio interface. I have tried disabling the onboard sound card in BIOS, but it didn't work - maybe it isn't disabled or perhaps BIOS doesn't fully deactivate it.

This is driving me crazy, so I hope you have some ideas.

THank you for your time.

First some questions =)

Leopard? Snow Leopard? Lion?

What's in the extra folder?

How bootloader?

You use a DSDT?

( The bios is upgraded? 2003 )

If not, do it =)

Hi Kenshin

My BIOS is up to date

I have booted to a 10.6.7 OSX (after trying 10.6.8).

I am using ##### for Snow Leopard, version 3.9.0

I loaded my custom DSDT, System Permissions, and tried all of the VoodooHDA kexts

Here is my Extras folder

Screen%20shot%202011-10-15%20at%202.07.24%20PM.png

As I said, I think the problem is the Edirol FA-101 communication. If I can turn off the VIA sound card, the interference might stop.

I have done a lot to my system to try get it working. If you have any questions, please ask.

Thanks!!!

Hey Guys!

I'm having issues with this board too, but it's getting worse.

First I had the crackling noise with the VoodooHDA 0.2.7.3 (and often had kernel panics because this kext). But I've managed to fix this problem by installing the 0.2.1 version and deleting AppleHDA kext. It worked for a day. Next day when I tuned on my machine the audio gone again. I reinstalled the voodoo kext but nothing. - I have 2 HDD's for opsystems. 1 for Win7 and 1 for the OSX. - So I booted up Win to see to have audio there, but I didn't had any sound either. Then I disconnected the HDD with the OSX on it, and voila I had sound on Windows... I did this with the OSX but with no luck... So now I have sound on Windows IF the HDD with the mac on it is disconnected, but I don't have any sound the opposite way (on OSX with win HDD disconnected). I don't have any ideas whats going on, and I really new to OSX86. Can someone help me please?!

Almost forgot, I have iATKOS L1 OSX Lion 10.7.1 installed and use DSDT-t from tonymacx86 database.
