here's the easy way:
its good to have all the kexts you need and the chameleon 1 installer in a folder on your macbook
connect your usb drive with your macbook
open disk utilites and select your usb drive
click options and select guid, click ok
and format it as mac os extended (journaled), click apply
insert the leopard dvd
reboot your macbook and start from dvd
set your usb drive as the installation location (NOT your macbook harddisk - or you will loose all your data)
install
now you have installed mac os on your usb drive.
now boot from the usb drive
and copy all the kexts you need to your extensions folder
and start the chameleon 1 installer
replace the boot file on your usb drive with ryuu123's version
repair permissions (with the disk utility)
shutdown
connect your usb drive to your vaio p and boot from it
now you can try around and finish the missing steps

Thanks, does not sound hard this way, can i then just restore the usb osx to my hard drive to make it a permanent install ?

that would be possible - but you would ne a bigger or another usb drive.
this way its also possible to follow ryuu123's in a convenient way (it's how i did).

hi maccosmo i am still kind of stuck i managed to install osx in the usb drive and boot of it, followed all of your steps, now when i connect the usb to the vaio i get still waiting for root device it gets stuck in:
USBF 2.255 AppleUSBEHCI: Unable to initialize UIM
Any Ideas ? Trying to think of ways to make steps simpler many of p users exited to follow on your steps and ryu : )
If I ever get this installed do you think using a usb vga out would allow for external display?
Also can you post your apple.com.plist i dont know if that is what I am doing wrong..
Thanks for all the help

my boot plist:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com...yList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">

<string></string>
<key>Graphics Mode</key>
<string>1600x768x32</string>
<key>Timeout</key>
<string>8</string>
</dict>
</plist>
did you replace IOUSBFamily.kext/Plugins/AppleUSBEHCI.kext and run repair permissions?

umm - maybe you should try to boot with "-v -f cpus=1 rd=disk1s2"
are you trying to boot the setup or the installed mac os?

If you didn't forget to overwrite AppleUSBEHCI.kext,
Try adding boot option "-f" and
Check AppleUSBEHCI.kext's uid/gid. it should be root/wheel. (chown -R 0:0 AppleUSBEHCI.kext)
or ( with new boot)
AppleUSBEHCI.kext to /Extra/Extensions
AppleUSBEHCI.kext toruble shooter is post #8.
important message is before "appleUSBUHCI unable to initialize UIM.."

Hi all,
I also try the way that maccosmo USB install.
-Install OSX10.5 into 16GB USB memory with MacMini Intel
-Reboot form USB memory
-Update 10.5.7
-Change boot file
-Install 3 kext files in ryuu123's archive with kext helper.
-Install Chameleon 1
-Edit /Library/SystemConfigurations/Preferences/com.apple.Boot.plist
-Correct permissions by Disk Utility.
After these steps, I insert USB memory and boot form VAIO.
Boot steps stops after some errors.
Something wrong or lacks kexts?
Thanks in advance.
