jjlucas76
Components compatibility has not got much to do with an operating system, because the manufactures provides the drivers to make its piece of kit compatible with the OS. Microsoft has not got that many drivers, but all the vendors write drivers for MS$, because of its popularity. It's easier to sell an operating system as MS$ does, but harder to sell the bundled hardware and OS, as Apple does. Apple package is obviously more expensive. Now Apple with the new Intel based computers will just push more vendors to write drivers for OS X; actually now it should be much easier for the developers write OS X drivers, because the code is based on the same x86 architecture that Windows and Linux use. The best thing to do for Apple is to have more OS X users as possible, regardless the hardware they are using, because that's how they'll get to the market. Apple has to get Microsoft down from its 90ish % of supremacy and Apple has to do it on the same level Microsoft is based on. Apple has given OS X to the entire world already and the restrictions that are using to stop us using it are as weak as possible. What we ask is SUPPORT and LEGACY. We want to buy OS X, We want to give what we can afford to Steve not to Bill. We want to escape away from MS. Without us they could not debug an entire OS migration from dev to production in 6 months, they need to give back our prize.

username931
Except, that wont happen. Apple's worred - rightly so - that if they license the OS, then it will be sold at cheper prices - if Dell sells OS X machines for $800, and Apple sells them for $2000, which one would you buy? The Dell. And Apple only gets $200 from the sale, whereas Dell will get $600. Sure, i can go out and buy a Walkman for $5 dollars at the thrift store and listen to music, but i'd rather buy a CD player for $15 and choose which track i listen to, or an iPod Nano for $100 and have multiple cd's and songs to listen to. Notice the correlation between Price and Functionality? Same thing with your $200 vs $2000 dollar computers.pple was to shift their marketing from "Only we sell our OS" to "Anyone can sell it with a licensing fee," It's a huge difference. Because of the TPM chip, that Apple puts in, that Dell cant. That changes the system around. Besides - EFI isnt a "Minor software trick" 1) that 200$ is pure profit. Apple doesn't have to make the computer 2) price does not equal value, nor are they always correlated, fool. 3) Africa is a country that suffers from an incredible disease. 4) Do you really represent apple or are you just some poor fanatic who worships jobs?
