hi mediterraneans neighbours, here's daveta from Sardinia.

Please excuse me about my don't clear post on 1st page. it was only to say that me and others don't understand nothing (my ignorance is absolute about your beautiful language) about greeks language, so i can't help you since start talk in english. or italian with me of course ;).

the misunderstanding start from my not so perfect english, so i didn't know how exactly say my concern.

Ok, so let's get to the point.

In general threads that start with brackets tend to gather people of that specific subject, so we needed to know if the Greek audience really needs a seperate subforum, and then ask it from the mod/admin team.

Now things got out of the way when we got the intervention, so here is the deal in plain English..

We never wanted to cause any missunderstanding using our native language, or impose it by force here. There is a bunch of people from or speaking Greek and we are asking if it's possible for a seperate subforum, one that doesn't need to bug other sections and for people to browse the forum knowing what to find.

Now if there is no need for it ok, we understand. But it took you a lot of time to get to this point so users, Greeks, started their own stuff, some even complete websites hosted in Greece! Now personaly I don't speak for all of'em but there are other places now for us to share the wealth!

Best wishes for the new year and with less SQL fails! :(

p.s. If the mothership (you) call the troops back, I think we (+you) are going to win this war!

Hey guys!

We're listening. Please don't take Daveta's post the wrong way, obviously you want to speak your own language, he just meant for this particular thread where you're requesting us admins (English speaking team) to create a new sub-forum for you, it would be best if this thread is discussed in English

Before I set this up, we need to decide on a moderator. I nominate Salax. Please can you all let me know your nominations in this thread and we can then put it to the vote.

Many thanks

-Ed

Hey there Ed, a happy new year to you and the rest of the staff!
I (and i believe the rest here) do appreciate the interest after all this foreign-language activity..
Better late than ever like we say :D My personal intentions are not to become a moderator of course, i hope that is understood. All i wanted was to have a dedicated sub-forum just like so many other languages do under the /Your Language path.. And as Bloodiator mentioned, we had to use some way to communicate natively, for not all users are fluent in English. Thus, we used the "bracket" system till now. Yes, i understand that global moderators can't speak every single language there is, so someone has to do it individually. I suppose that's the way the rest of the foreign language sub-forums are organized, right? I'd appreciate it if you tell us all that is required, so we can decide on who will do the task of moderating (gotta vote, i suppose) and i hope you don't mind me translating this whole text in Greek too..
So here goes:

Μετάφραση στα Ελληνικά προς ενημέρωση των χρηστών (Translation in Greek to inform members)

bloodiator 1st poster? wow :P

ok, this is the way: you have to propose anyone who wants to be a candidate to help your section; then we'll create a private poll and simply vote. so, come on and try to propose yourself! who's the first? ;)

Thanx Salax, Daveta

You know Salax that names must be put to vote, and i think you could be of help to the section. I don't know about me cause i'm already mod/ing one and creating another, but i may have some time to help too.

I don't know if i'm ok with mod/ing this section, but i'd like to know there is one for Greeks in InsanelyMac!

Ok, so let's hear it from the rest of the users here... You can choose your own selves, i don't think it's a problem for anyone! I have no experience in moderation whatsoever, and would rather vote for Bloodiator. If he thinks he can manage it, i'd be glad! Time to get organized folks...

Thanks Bloodiator, I think your post sums up the situation well. We're more than happy to support the Greek community and I think it makes sense for there to be a separate sub-forum.

Definitely a year of less SQL fails, I assure you :(

It would be good if you guys could encourage our fellow Greek InsanelyMac members to acknowledge who they'd like to see as Moderator for this new sub-forum!

Many thanks

-Ed

people, you have to propose yourself officially if you want a capable mod.

Salax, bloodiator, and .... ?

I would like to thank you for your interest in creating a separate section of the forum that would be entirely in Greek.
I believe that both these individuals that have expressed interest in getting the position of moderator are capable people.
I would also like to express a question that keeps bugging me. Why is this job so important? is it so hard? It has to do with the designing part of the subsection, or only to direct and oversee the smooth operation of the subforum?
I do not believe that I am able in order to be a candidate for the position, so I am leaving it up to you.

Θα ήθελα επισής να εκφράσω μια απορία που μ΄απασχολεί. Γιατί είναι τόσο σημαντική αυτή η δουλειά; Είναι τόσο δύσκολη; Έχει να κάνει με το σχεδιαστικό κομμάτι του υποτμήματος ή μόνο με την διεύθυνσή και επίβλεψή της ομαλής λειτουργίας του υποφόρουμ;

For me it's quite simple, i kinda don't have the spare time to mod here too, so i think it's better without a sub-section, cause it's only 3-4 people hovering around.

If it gets more by time, then we could re-open the Moderator voting and choose a person for the job..
