Little Snitch on 10.6 hackintosh

hi, ive just built my hackintosh machine, installed 10.6 ok.

Come to start installing software and i started with little snitch, i rebooted and the start up got stuck, so i rebooted and it started ok, but when the computer loaded little snitch the kinda blacked out screen with you must restart your mac message came up and comes up each time i reboot.

 

I understand little snitch works in 10.5, but has anyone got it to work in 10.6???

You need to update Little Snitch v2.2 that works in Snow Leopard!

To clarify. Yes "You need to update Little Snitch v2.2"

It is best to rebuild kext Cache as some people have kernel panics after install if this is not done.

 

 

My friend built me a Hackintosh for Christmas. Unfortunately, he is in another city right now. I have the same exact problem as the OP. Could somebody please help me out with some idiot-proof instructions to fix this problem? I have no idea what a kext is....

After i just installed Little Snitch on:

 

D945GCLF Intel Atom 330 it made me restart the system which then made it take ages to load up thought it was a KP but it was caused by Little Snitch which it was but just wana warn people that its fine and it will continue to load but take ages the first time after installing Little Snitch.

 

Also this was on a Fully Updated Snow Leopard 10.6.2

I have had an almost identical issue. I am using the lifehacker binary and I updated to 10.6.2. Kind of a let down because the first thing I do with a new OS is get my firewall up and running. I am really glad I found this thread because it helped me isolate the problem. I used the advice from ce123.ben...

 

Apparently, every time you add a kernel extension i.e. Little Snitch, you will need to rebuild your kextcache. Simply run these commands, in terminal, before restart, as sudo...

 

kextcache -v 1 -m /System/Library/Extensions.mkext /System/Library/Extensions/

kextcache -v 1 -m /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/Extensions.mkext /System/Library/Extensions/

Sorry to resurrect this thread. But I installed Little Snitch, had to rebuild the kextcahces, which got me out of the KP.

 

But now I am stuck at the startup spinner.

 

At this point, all I want to do is get rid of Little Snitch. Can I just delete the added kexts and rebuild?

 

To update:

 

I removed all of Little Snitch, rebuilt the Extensions.mkext files and got the following errors:

JMicronATA.kext does not declare a kernal dependency; using com.apple.kernel.6.0.

BJUSBLoad.kext is missing dependencies (including anyway; dependencies may be available from elsewhere)

 

But it created the mkext anyway. Rebooted again and still stuck at the startup spinner.

FURTHER UPDATES;

 

Verbose boot shows 1) BMBMouseDevice errors and then I get a ~12 Sound assertion errors before the thing hangs.
