after 10.5.6 update,

"UBS over current notice" after wake up from sleep, and normal after each reboot. this only happends after sleep.

never had this issue before, and no matter how many usb devices I use, (1 - 5) .same error/notice

once I get this error, I won't be able to sleep anymore.

anyone knows why?

The SMU (System Management Unit) is a microcontroller chip on the logic board that controls all power functions for your computer. If your computer is experiencing any power issue, resetting the SMU may resolve it. The SMU controls several functions

I think this maybe the issue..

anyone?

I have this problem after update to 10.5.6 from 10.5.5. Then I restore the following 2 kexts from 10.5.5,

- IOUSBFamily.kext version 3.1.5

- IOUSBMassStorageClass.kext version 2.0.2

no more over current msgs, and sleep mode 0, 1 and 3 all work.

  • 4 months later...
  • 2 weeks later...

I also have this problem after awaking from sleep, even when no devices are attached to the usb ports. Tried all the kests mentioned in this post but no luck ... Did anyone hear of another solution ?

By the way: I got these messages in the logs:

5/7/09 11:21:23 PM kernel USB Notification: The device "EHCI Root Hub Simulation" @ 0xfd000000 has caused an overcurrent condition. The hub it is attached to has been disabled

Update: installed AppleUSBEHCI from 10.5.5 and things go well, no more messages after sleep, no problems at all before sleep but ... a kernel panic when I reattach my usb drive after wake up. Installed IOUSBFamily and USBMassStorageClass from 10.5.5 together with AppleUSBEHCI, same thing.

Ah well, sleep no more I guess.
