I am on a Acer Travelmate 290 (Centrino) using the already patched 10.4.4 DVD available on torrents.

It boots and installation completes succesfully.

On reboot however, regardless of what kernel options I pass, -v or -s, a lot of white text scrolls by(kexts loading I presume) and then it goes to a black screen.

I think its a kext problem. Anyone else having this problem? What are your computer specs?

Same thing for me. It didn' happen when I just restored 10.4.4 Ghost backup image. But when I updated 10.4.3 with 10.4.4 DVD Generic install. Linux style...

ohh yes mine too.

I updated the 10.4.3 system to 10.4.4 but I can say the graphic card performance are decreased too.

I checked with cinebench

I get this problem when installing from a 10.4.1 installation. What version of OS X86 are you installing it under

The DVD (on demonoid.com, search for 10.4.4, added Feb 21) I had obtained was patched to be bootable and installable without the need for a prior installation.

Has anyone found a possible workaround? Although I can't get into Mac single user mode, I am dual-booting with Linux so I can mount the partitions can make changes from within Linux.
