kdraggy
I have RTL8139 which works perfect in Windows but in OSX it doesn't even appear in Network configuration. Tried to install drivers from Realtek site but, obvious, no luck. "Kext installed improperly". Please help. Thanks in advance Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/993-no-network-with-rtl8139-installed/ Share on other sites

Thanks in advance <{POST_SNAPBACK}> First of all, the drivers you downloaded are probaly PPC drivers not x86 so they wont work anyways. Secondly, check which chipset of 8139 you have. If it is 8139(A) it wont work. Check and get back here Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/993-no-network-with-rtl8139-installed/#findComment-6056 Share on other sites
kdraggy
How can I check version? In windows it says Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC. May be it marked on the card? P.S. RTL8139 appears as en0 interface in Network Utility. kdraggy
It uses standart Windows driver - RTL8139.sys. It's a PCI card. Also - PnP OS Support in BIOS is currently disabled. And as I mentioned earlier NIC appears in Network Utility as en0 interface Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/993-no-network-with-rtl8139-installed/#findComment-6063 Share on other sites
macgirl
With Tiger you don't need a kext from Realtek because Tiger already has it. AppleRTL8139Ethernet.kext is inside of IONetworkingFamily.kext Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/993-no-network-with-rtl8139-installed/#findComment-6073 Share on other sites

macgirl
Look in Windows or Linux what is your actual Device ID / Vendor ID and see if matches with the Info.plist of the RTL8139 kext. macgirl
The Info.plist has: IOPCIMatch 0x813910ec 0x13001186 0x12111113 So it matches, if it appear as EN0 the kext is loaded, just need to configure in the System Configuration Network Preferences Panel, maybe you need to activate it. I have a SMC 1211TX NIC which is RTL8139 compatible and works fine, Vendor ID 1113 DeviceID 1211, but I deleted Built In Ethernet and leave only PCI Ethernet Slot PCI0 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/993-no-network-with-rtl8139-installed/#findComment-6087 Share on other sites
