cheatochris13
Alright I have 2 questions, i have Kalyway up and running 10.5.2 and all that fun stuff But no internet, i tried this site http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=89475 and downloaded both the nforcethernet and the work around, used the kext helper thing and moved the nforceethernet kext over and when i open the zip for the workaround there are 2 folders, am i supposed to move both over? or just the 4 in workaroundsource\forcedeth\build\release, or do i have the wrong ones? any help would be great other question, i have a Nvidia 8800GS with 384mb or ram on it, when i downloaded the NVIinstaller.33 there is no option for 384, is there a different installer i need? or do i just use the default 256? Gujal
Have you installed the Leopard Graphics Update. If not, you need to install that first. Once that is installed get NVinject 0.2.2 and install it. Follow the instructions on site to set up the VRAM size and it should work

cheatochris13
Thanks Guys, if anyone has any info for the onboard NIC that would be great, but i think that i might just have to buy a cheapo one from Newegg, if someone has a suggestion for one that works out of the box and is cheap, that would also be great, i think i saw someone say this one was good http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16833180026 Can anyone confirm? thanks

cheatochris13
hmmm i feel dumb, but i don't see where the <000000XX> is in the Nvinject.kext, i have version 0.2.1 and i go into it then into contents then into info.plist and i don't see anything about Vram or the numbers for that, any reasons why i might be missing this, or do i have a wrong file or looking at the wrong thing? Gujal
You were supposed to get NVInject 0.2.2. Get it here And for 384MB, the value is supposed to be 18 (1*256 + 8*16) Remember to use Property List Editor to edit this file, not Text edit. cheatochris13
I got the 2.2 you linked me to, then i edited the VRam to 00000018 and put it in the extentions folder like told and the first time i restart it boots and mac says i have an error with the kext, and when i reboot again it doesn't boot into mac os x, not even with -x, any suggetions? would using NVInstallerV.41 work better? and is there anyway to get back into kalyway without having to reinstall it, its horrible having to reinstall it so many times thanks guys
Gujal
Just verifying, when you said you copied it into Extensions Folder, did you set the owner to root:wheel with the following command? sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/NVInject* You can still do it if you boot with "-s" option, will take you to text mode. follow the instructions on screen to mount the file system in read/write mode and enter the above command. you can then issue "reboot" command to reboot the OS. After that boot with a -v option to see if NVInject is sensing your card correctly And if you dont want to use NVInject, you can boot into "-s" mode and delete the kext
cheatochris13
what is the command to delete the kext if i need to, i am kinda new with the text aspect of the operating system
cheatochris13
Ok the root:wheel command didn't work, but i was able to get into mac os by deleting the kext rm -rf At one point i tried using NVInstaller.41 and chose 320mb as the option, thinking it was closest to 384, and it sorta worked, it had glitches and such, but i could change the resolution to the different settings and such, I was wondering if used the default of 256, which they say to use if u don't know what your card has, if that would work or not. Cause i really don't know why my NVinject.Kext isn't working when i install it
