Muaitai
Hi, About 7 months ago I bought a Macbook Pro 17” from PCMall, it is the model Z0ED0005Z which on the box label says Apple Mackbook Pro 17” HIG-RES GLSY. My question is how can this notebook be High-Res if only go up to 1680x1050? I called Apple and they said that the notebook is High-Res up to that resolution, does that make sense? Aren’t High-Res over 1920? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/99211-macbook-pro-lcd-resolution-question/ Share on other sites
U.C.
From the Apple Store Description. About glossy and antiglareChoose the glossy widescreen display to make your graphics, photos, and videos appear with richer colors and deeper blacks — great for watching DVD movies. If you prefer a display with antiglare coating for a matte rather than glossy viewing experience, choose the standard widescreen display. About display resolution The standard 1680 x 1050 resolution on the 17-inch MacBook Pro offers as many pixels as the 20-inch Apple Cinema Display. By upgrading to the high-resolution 1920x1200 pixel display, you'll enjoy a workspace with 30% more pixels than the standard model, or as many pixels as the 23-inch Apple Cinema HD Display. You'll have more space for palettes and windows, and you can watch 1080 HD video content at full resolution. The high-resolution display also offers LED backlighting, which delivers instant full-screen brightness and greater power efficiency compared to standard displays — up to an additional 30 minutes of battery life for wireless productivity. Important note: The actual size of the display is the same (17-inch diagonal) on both models. You should have confirmed when making the purchase. Maybe you can try claiming that they frauded you because they charged you for the high res model, but gave you standard res. Muaitai
Hi U.C. Thanks for the information, the problem is that PCMall says it's not their problem because the Apple label on the notebook box says Hig-Res. i_am...me
If the serial numbers match then apple messed it up. If they don't then PCMall messed it up Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/99211-macbook-pro-lcd-resolution-question/#findComment-708972 Share on other sites
sarahbau
I called Apple and they said that the notebook is High-Res up to that resolution, does that make sense? Aren’t High-Res over 1920? I don't know what they mean by "high res up to that resolution." The Apple Store clearly says that the high resolution display on the 17" is 1920x1200, and the standard is 1680x1050. Muaitai
The serial number match, the configuration on the label match but the resolution. I bought this note 4 months ago but unfortunately only now I noticed that. I wanted to start doing some editing on my home movies and when I started messing with the application I noticed that the resolution was only 1680x1050. Am I out of luck here? I guess so. sarahbau
I'd call Apple back. The first person you spoke to was wrong. It might be difficult to get it replaced though since it's been so long since you got it (4 or 7 months, depending on which post lol) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/99211-macbook-pro-lcd-resolution-question/#findComment-710588 Share on other sites
