While installing Leopard from DVD I get the error "still waiting for root device"

I know the first thing you would say is there exist topics discussing this issue.

I have gone through more than 15 articles from different forums discussing this issue but all of them talk about SATA, IDE , master, slave, some switches l

ke -x -v etc etc

I have an Intel G33 original motherboard, Intel core 2 duo 2.33, 2 GB Ram (single ram).

I have tried all of these combinations for installing Leopard :

1. BIOS setting: SATA as AHCI

   Hardware used:

DVD-RW (IDE)  (no other IDE devices, not even a floppy drive)

    one SATA hard-disk

2.  BIOS setting: SATA as IDE

    Hardware used:

DVD-RW (IDE)  (no other IDE devices, not even a floppy drive)

    one SATA hard-disk

3. BIOS setting: IDE harddisk as master

    Hardware used:

   DVD-RW (IDE)

    one IDE harddisk

4.  BIOS setting: IDE harddisk as slave

    Hardware used:

   DVD-RW (IDE)

    one IDE harddisk

In all the cases, I get the same result: "Still waiting for root device"

I have tried all this:

1. kept the hard-disk  totally unpartitioned (i.e. raw)

2. partitioned it completely

3. partitoned the first drive

I have tried a flat-image install------started it from windows XP on a blank (raw) SATA (& then IDE when it failed) harddisk

In all the cases, I get the same result: "Still waiting for root device"

I tried most of all this even for Tiger and i get the same result: "Still waiting for root device"

Someone plz tell me how long will i have to wait for this "root device"?

Will I ever be able to install MacOSX tiger or leopard on my PC?

THanks in advance!!!
