hey, im sorta new to this osx x86 stuff, and i have a few questions. i have both the phenix dmg and deadmoo iso versions of the developers dvd. my processor only supports sse2, but ive read that its possible to install it by applying a few patches. my reason for doing it this way rather than the dd method is to install it onto my external usb hard drive on partitions, so it can also be used for storage. [the dd method on a partition failed after 4 hours of writing ::grr::] precisely my questions are:

1) what patches do i need to get? [and preferably a link]

2) is there a guide i could use to follow?

specs:

sony vaio pcv-rs420

p4 2.8ghz ht processor [sse2]

512 mb ram [if that helps?]

120 gb internal hard drive [three partitions, one restore]

160 gb external usb hard drive [eventual location of os x]

my ideas for partitioning the usb drive [i believe can be done using disk utility during setup?]:

25gb Mac OS X

135gb storage [FAT32, osx/win shared]

thanks in advance!

I've tried several install methods, and I hav fond that the simplet and easiets is this one: Nolan's newest install guide

(note: it does install native even though it uses VMWare during installation)

Then after you have installed OS X, and it works, try Maxxus' v.4 patch for SSE3-SSE2 Maxxus' patch

Good luck :)

ah. thanks for the quick reply, tho i was looking for a method to install osx onto a partition using the Developers Kit DVD. It appears this guide uses the 'dd' method. I have Marklar-Tiger.dmg and Marklar-Tiger.iso from phenix and deadmoo, respectively. basically i wanted to boot the dvd and run the osx installer from there. whats the best way to do this, if at all possible?
