I installed Kalyway 10.5.1 with almost no problems. My PC is seen as a Mac Pro. Sound doesn't work but i don't care because I'm getting a firewire interface. I do get a Classic Mac Application error when I try to open certain programs (I think thats a Leopard issue). The only issue is that my 7600GS does not get recognized as dual monitors. I am afraid to make any major changes to get dual monitors because I'm not sure if the methods to get dual monitors on the GS7600 are obselete. They involve kernal changes and driver mods

My Questions:

Why are there so many different flavors of install?

If Kalyway works would I benefit from a different install, in terms of stabilty and ability to run applications?

How can I be sure that something is newer or older or better than what I already have?

Do I need EFI or is that integrated into the Kalyway install (I read the instructions and purposes of EFI, but I'm not sure if I need it or already have it)?

I am basically looking for the most stable and real to life Mac experience on my PC (who isn't). I have scoured the forums and google to try and get my questions answered before posting.

Thanks for all of your hard work,

JOe K.

Looks like you have a pretty compatible board. It's documented a lot in the wiki . You can definitely get sound working and your graphics should work by installing Titan or NVinject. The "application errors" might be caused from having an outdated AppleSMBIOS file, which you can find at netkas.org or download directly here. You can update to 10.5.2 using Netkas' instructions here.

I thought I installed the NVinject with Kalyway. Does that come native with Kalyway? if so, do I need to update nvinject?

How would I check if my SMBIOS is outdated?

Will the 10.5.2 update my SMBIOS?

Or do I need to update the SMBIOS before updating to 10.5.2?

Also do I need PC_Efi or was that included on the Kalyway install? How can I check to see if PC_EFI is on my beast?

Thanks for your prompt reply,
