Gabriel Simões
Hello ... Since I want to develop for Iphone and I can´t afford a macbook right now I decided to try installing Leopard on my actual notebook (Dell Vostro 1000). Well .... I guess most of you guys have heard about installing macosx in this notebook (pain in the ass ...) ... but I´m brave and I decided to insist till I get what I want hehehehe. Well ... I´ve downloaded a Leo4All iso (md5 6d4e68afb3486baec03b446fb0a5d711 checked!) and started trying to burn it with Nero Express. My first try didn´t boot and the second booted but stopped right after Darvin showed up. Then I´ve downloaded UltraISO demo and recorded with it. The dvd booted but then I got "waiting for root device". My next try was VMWare and there, right after waiting for root device I got a message about turning my device able to receive atapi messages in dma mode and after clicking ok the magic happened ... instalation process went thru "waiting for root device" but I got an error message after the graphical unit showed up. So ... based on that I deviced to boot nativelly again with the DVD on and voila .... it worked, no more waiting for root device! (not this time but from time to time I get it again). I could select my hdd, erase partition, mount it again, select stuff to install, everything appeared ok (well 3h install because of sb600 but I waited pattiently) when suddenly ... an install error ... the installer could not validate the BSD package ... Went to windows again and asked Ultraiso to check the DVD so I could compare it with the iso MD5 and the result were different. Based on that I got ultraiso 9, registered it and tried to record using slower speeds (burn iso image -> DVD -> 4X/3X). Don´t know why now my DVDs can´t even be read by windows, nor they boot on startup ... Is there any problem in burning Leo4All using Ultraiso 9 ? is there any configuration I should do before burning it? Should I try an older version of UltraISO ? even a demo one? PLease give me a hand here ... because I think I´m pretty close to installing it. Thanks, Gabriel Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/97611-dell-vostro-1000-saga-happy-end/ Share on other sites
Gabriel Simões
Well my friends ... let me say I got good news ... In resume .. macosx is installed and running well on my Dell Vostro 1000 notebook. NATIVELLY. What I did ... Downloaded an older version of UltraISO (8.6.6 I guess) and burned the Leo4All v2 iso again at 8x speed. I don[t know what happens with this notebook but ... most of the times booting with the DVD will lead to "waiting for root device" ... well ... sometimes I works and in one of these times I was able to finish the instalation process. Network and wireless are working out of the box. I've found kexts for video and audio and will try them right now. My main problem is that ... not only in the instalation but also after installed the system sometimes freezes untill I move the mouse ... so it keeps going ... crazy don't u think? I need to figure out how to activate the keyboard as ABNT2 (brazilian keyboard) so I can write stuff in correct portuguese! hehehehe Well ... time to try the new kexts and let my Leo working 100%. If you know how to help me .. I will be glad... sultansonline
Yes, a installation manual for vostro 1000 would be nice. I' can't do that with Leo4Allv2 and v3. V2 Installs perfect, but not boot at all. V3 crashed on install with waiting for root device... Installation manual would be very appeciated. Thank you Gabriel and all the people. tonyadams5
working installations find and make dvd of Kalway10.5.2.intel.amd version At startup pls type -v -f idlehalt=0 cpus=1 this will start the installation process do the disk erase etc. now before installations, choose appropriate files to install. install (skip dvd check) After installation on each setup, type idlehalt=0. This will make things faster and no stalls. If you want you can add this command in your com.apple.Boot.plist. open with textmate.app and add the following: <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>idlehalt=0</string> save the file and now u can start without the wait etc. Dell Vostro 1000 installed and sending this message from Vostro 1000 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/97611-dell-vostro-1000-saga-happy-end/#findComment-885341 Share on other sites
zero3xile
i got the same system but mine keeps saying when its about to install that it failed to installed and that it cannot in find the files needed to install. Im still using v2 of leo4all, any suggestions. I am trying to install it on a partitioned drive which i have erased and formated using the mac tool. i have followed all the guides but still not working. I have made a new disc, and burned at slower speed but still the same. I am sure it can install because it installed fully once before when i first tried it, i had to format it because of crash, but know i can't do it again. ERROR: INSTALL FAILED Mac OS X could not be installed on your computer The Installer could not locate the data it needed to install the software. Check your install media or internet connection and try again or contact the software manufacturer for assistance. Click restart to restart your computer and try installing again. -- and yes i have tried restarting, ive done the whole process like 10x, same error. EDIT: seemed to be able to get around it if i go super fast through each window, for some reason if my drive stops making a sound it won't work. kinda lame because i don't have time to click on what drivers i want installed. anyone know how i can get the drivers installed, like the ati video card ones, Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/97611-dell-vostro-1000-saga-happy-end/#findComment-909804 Share on other sites
