joker
I tried UltraISO, and it can open the DMG, but it can't save the edited file (as in, save the DMG with the new kernel file). I tried converting it to a iso, and that worked, but I can't open the ISO file (I get an error with UltraISO and ISOBuster, i'm guessing it can't handle 4GB files-- yes, my HD is NTFS). What's the deal here? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/9695-how-did-you-patch-1043/ Share on other sites

joker
I think it was because I was reading the file over a networked SMB drive, and SMB doesn't maybe allow files over 4GB. But, I figured out how to mount the ISO in OS X as read-write (on my Mac), and I put the files according to M's site (particularly, the files in /usr/standalone/i386) and when I boot the DVD, it says "This hardware configuration is not supported by Darwin". Do you know what this is about? Also, why can't I reformat a 3rd blank disk image from 10.4.1 with disk utility? ced1610
you can use terminal in osx to convert dmg to iso... put your file.dmg ("macosx_10.4.3_8f1111_for_dtk_userdvd.dmg" for example...) on the desktop (instead of "mac", put your login name in command line above...), open terminal and do this : hdiutil convert /Users/mac/Desktop/macosx_10.4.3_8f1111_for_dtk_userdvd.dmg -format UDTO -o /Users/mac/Desktop/macosx_10.4.3_8f1111_for_dtk_userdvd.iso hope this help you... (for patch the file, PPFpatcher dont work in osx, you need another command with ppf command, if you are inerested, tell me... dont forget to rename the new file (it's ended with .cdr, cut it...). The GUI PPFpatcher doesn't work in OS X, but it seems the command line version did... is this the case? Or does the commandline patcher not work either? Also, it seems the Max-s java ISO patcher doesn't work either. ced1610
you'll do the ppfcommand like : go to applyppf app: cd Maxxuss_Patch_Solution_v1.0/ppf-o-matic3-full-dist/ppfbin/mac_os-x-intel/ApplyPPF and launch command (example): ApplyPPF.exe a /Volumes/datas/Utilitaires osx86/Systemes intel OsX/8f1111g/macosx_10.4.3_8f1111_for_dtk_userdvd.dmg patch.ppf (in place of "patch.ppf" you must give the entire way of ppf file) hope this help you.
