Hi all --

I'm following "M"'s instructions for installing 10.4.4 under my working 10.4.3 8f1111a installation. I follow the steps up to actually installing 10.4.4 on a new volume, and it works fine until I get to installing "Regional Boot" with the following error. I have more than enough space on there and am using the default package selections for 10.4.4 installation.

Anyone come across this or know the solution?

It seems to have something to do with "permission denied" but install is running as root, right? So it shouldn't be an issue...?

The trick is to deselect the additional applications install during installation customization (and preferably printer drivers, additional fonts etc. too... saves space !) then this error disappears....

I've found this somewhere on the boards, thanks for NOBODY pointing in that direction in this thread... ;)

Thanks NO THANKS !

Here are my hardware specs:

Machine Name: Apple Development Platform

Machine Model: ADP2,1

CPU Type: ADP2,1

Number Of CPUs: 2

CPU Speed: 3 GHz

L2 Cache (per CPU): 1 MB

CPU Features: FPU VME DE PSE TSC MSR PAE MCE CX8 APIC SEP MTRR PGE MCA CMOV PAT PSE36 CLFSH DS ACPI MMX FXSR SSE SSE2 SS HTT TM SSE3 MON DSCPL CX16 TPR

Bus Speed: 800 MHz

Boot ROM Version: VG91510A.86A.0042.2005.0530.2018 (Intel Corp.)

Pretty darn close to the Apple developer transition kits, in other words. 10.4.3 installed and worked flawlessly.

I'll try freeing up some space, but if that doesn't work, maybe I'll installing directly from a patched DVD...
