bartmanucla Posted April 3, 2006 Share Posted April 3, 2006 I am having the same issue. I am installing 10.4.3 on a Dell Inspiron 8600 and it took about 15 min for the opening loader page to appear. I then chose English and it has now been about 10 min and it is still on the “preparing installation.” Any ideas on how to speed this up? domino Posted April 3, 2006 Share Posted April 3, 2006 If you're installing under vmware, which is actually the fastest way to install, the best thing to do is copy the iso to your hard drive. Other than that, members already said cpu, drive speed, memory speed, and memory size is a big factor. I can install on my system specs in just under 12 minute. Some people can in about 7 minutes.
