DarkLSurf
I'm just starting to research this. Need some experienced advice, so here we go... I have a G5 Intel 2.66 GHz Dual-Core 2 gigs of RAM I want to purchase a separate HD and run Windows XP. What is a good route to go? Cost? Process/steps? Thanks, Dale Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/96213-newbie-intel-mac-with-windows-master-plan/ Share on other sites
Metrogirl
Something doesn't quite add up with your post which probably explains the lack of replies. Do you have a dual-processor G5? Forget running Windoze except in an emulator. Do you have an Intel Dual Core? Then there are several options. A Dual Processor G5 is just that, a pair of PowerPC processors made by IBM and which cannot run Windows natively. A Dual Core Intel Processor is a single chip Intel CPU which can run Windows. So - a quick revision of what you said "I have a G5 Intel 2.66 GHz Dual-Core" will clear things up and we can help you! DarkLSurf
Thanks Metrogirl, I'm low on my caffeine levels. Yes, I have a G5 Intel 2.66 GHz Dual-Core and need to install another HD to run Windows XP. What's the best way to go? Thanks and sorry for the poor description. Falcon351
You said "G5 Intel" again. It's one or the other. I don't know if there were any 2.66GHz G5s, so I'm inclined to think you have an Intel-based machine (probably a Mac Pro), however please specify it clearly so we know what you/we are working with. Select "About this Mac" from the Apple menu in OS X and tell us what it reports. BTW, dual-core G5s also existed. The PowerMac G5 Quad had two dual-core G5 chips.
