Hey, just wondering if anyone's tried what I plan to try (when I get the time!), which is to install 10.4.4 (either by installing the OSInstall etc packages using Pacafist, or just by running the installer) to *upgrade* my 10.4.3 system, then apply the maxxuss patches etc.

I only really want to do this because I only have two partitions on my drive, and it seems easier than installing to a separate partition / drive.

Has anyone tried this at all? Had any luck? My wife-to-be is due to give birth to my first child any day now, but i'll try to find the time to try this myself asap (now thats dedication for you...).

If anyone has tried this, please post your experiences / tips / failures / whatever here!

greetz

I never got past "Unable to find driver for this platform: ACPI", but I may have corrupted my 10.4.4 somewhere along the line.

I obtained a Ghost image (22+gb partition, compressed down to 4g or so) and restored that to my hard drive. Worked, well except for the "HFS+ partition error" which I solved by leaving the install CD in the drive... apparently if you don't press F8, it searches for a valid OS X (active) partition on the hard disk and skips the install if it finds one. This is probably a "feature" for idiots who don't eject their install media after installing. (Actually, in a Mac Mini, the CD is left inside the system, but the openfirmware is told via NVRAM to boot the hard drive.)
