Sunil Thomas
Is it safe to download and install this security update through software update? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/95318-security-update-2008/ Share on other sites
Gujal
Security Update 2008 is safe to install. However be careful with the Time Machine/Airport Fix. This one replaces system.kext and installs new kernel 9.2.2 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/95318-security-update-2008/#findComment-679716 Share on other sites

thomas11
I have already installed Time Machine/Airport Fix. And system does not start any more. Anyone went through this and had chance to fix? rjohnstone
The Time Machine/Airport Fix is a nasty one. I've tried every trick in the book and no luck. I just rebuilt the system and put it on my "do not install yet" list. exman
You can install the Time Machine/Airport fix. However, it asks you to restart the system, don't. Before you restart, install the Kalyway mod 9.2.0 kernel and everything should work good afterwards. This was my way of getting around the problem and it works. MatNeh
I would recommend keeping a copy of your working kernel as "mach_kernel.orig" in the root directory for cases when this happens. When my system didn't boot up, I just tried again, pressed F8, and typed "mach_kernel.orig" and was back in business.
