Hey, I just attempted to install OSx86 onto my computer, and I got up until the step where in the OS X installation, it says "Select a destination volume to install the Mac OS X software." and there is nothing listed. I don't want to format my hard drive because I use Windows XP on another partition. I'm not sure what kind of drive I have (I heard SATA doesn't work), but I *BELIEVE* I have an SATA. If this helps, I'm using an HP Pavilion a1250n, with a 250GB hard drive. On Best Buy's site (where I purchased my computer) I looked at a similar computer, and it was listed as having an SATA drive. Is there any way to install OSx86 on an SATA drive? Thanks.

Oh yeah, and I tried to search and had no luck.

You cannot install on SATA drives. You need a primary partition on a IDE (aka PATA) drive. If you have such a partition you can go on.

it says "Select a destination volume to install the Mac OS X software." and there is nothing listed

At that moment you can select the program DiskUtility from the Menu line. IN that program you can format any free partition for the use of MacOS 10. But make sure, you select the correct Partition. Otherwise you may destroy you Windows installation.

No. you cannot use the hard drive that sits in your computer right now, because it's an SATA drive. You need to get another HD that uses PATA (not SATA).

PATA is just another name for IDE, so basically the harddrive standard that used to be default before the newer SATA standard. Most older used HDs are PATA.

Just stick it into your computer and connect it to the same cable as your DVD-ROM is connected. Make sure, Master/Slave settings are correct.

If this is all Chinese to you then ask someone who can built custom PCs to help you.
