Hi guys,

Today I was trying to install os x on my friend's dell 710m. The native install failed; I booted, and selected a partition to install, but it failed and it suggested to try installing it again.

After this, we tried installing it from vmware under windows, but we got a PAE (physical address extension) error on vmware. Maxxuss also refers about this error (PAE) on his site, saying: "You simply have to add the line "paevm=true" to the .vmx configuration file of your 10.4.3 VMWare guest." We did that, but we got the same error.

We think the native install failed 'cause the pentium m processor hasn't pae (as maxxuss says), so the only way to install os x would be vmware, but it doesn't boot due to the PAE error still exists even adding the line that maxxuss and vmware site say that it's to be installed.

What can we do? I've seen some people here that have had successful installations on their 710Ms. Please, help us!

Thanks guys! :D

If that is the case, you should be able to check the wiki. Other possibilities:

1. Disable USB and sound hardware in BIOS

2. Try different DVD media (just because it worked on another PC does not mean the same DVD will work here)

3. Try another DVD drive if available.

4. Try a working install by imaging that to 710M's HD directly by DD or ghost or acronis
