EDIT: READ MY LAST POST IN HERE TO SEE MY SOLUTION TO THIS.

Hi, I have a Dell Inspiron E1505

Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 @1.66ghz

2 gigs of ram

ATI mobility radeon x1400 256mb

Dell Truemobile 355 Bluetooth + EDR

Broadcom 440x

Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network connection

For my sound it just says "High definition audio device" under device manager and it's made by Microsoft??

Can anyone help me figure out what driver i need to use? I've been trying to get sound working for quite a while now

Thanks

That would be the fastest and easiest way to find out.

wrong!

go to device manager under windows, then find your high definition audio device, go to propeties>details and read driver id: should be there

DEV_xxxx

I got this from my dxdiag log

Hardware ID: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8384&DEV_7690&SUBSYS_102801BD&REV_1022

So Dev id is 7690 and vendor ID is 8384.

What do I do with this? How do I know what I have?

I finally got it working. If anyone else has the same problem, i use AppleHDAPatcher Version 1.20 which can be found here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=32859

and the codec dump i used is attached here. Just download the patcher and drag this codec over the Patcher in Finder. Don't open the patcher and try to drag the codec in there, simply drag the codec onto the icon for the patcher in finder, enter your password, let the patcher do it's magic, reboot and voila! Sound!

Btw, my sound controls are working, but it doesn't seem to mute but at least i got sound working finally!
