clamshell
I was wondering what I might do to get Leopard's Quartz working faster? The problems are these: Bad minimization performance, animations skip Beachball of death appears too often Sluggish Spaces animations It's really annoying me. I'm using a 10.5.2 system updated from a Leopard Kalyway 10.5.1 DVD. After the update, graphics performance did improve, but there are still a few issues. I'm using a GeForce 8600 GTS with Scotdangel NV-Inject. Yes, Quartz extreme is working, I am using DVI ports, I tried using the other DVI port and tried a few tweaks like Beam Sync disabling and enabling Quartz 2D Extreme, but I ended up dropping them. I'm pretty annoyed because I feel that my GPU is more than competent to deal with a few textures and shaders. It can handle sophisticated games just fine but can't render a desktop. I might also mention that it works just fine in Linux with Compiz Fusion or Windows Vista. Any help please? PS: I also use a Core 2 Duo E6400 CPU and 2.5GB of RAM. JMacalinao
You can try getting the modified 9.2.0 kernel from netkas. It gave me some performance improvements, albeit minimal. And yes, I can feel your frustration - I seldom get sluggish animations with my 8600 GT, especially if there are simultaneous animations going on the desktop. codyman
My 8600gts 256mb runs fine with leopard, never slows down. Only thing i had to do was delete the "&" between the device ids in the info.plist files.
