What do you people think about Dual core CPUs of intel & AMD, intel picked up by Apple, but who is performing in market? AMD.

when the two cores on intel chip want to exchange some information they cant do directly, information must be first sent to Motherboard ( think how much time it would take if FSB is Half Duplex) then to that recipient core.

But in AMD they can cummunicate directly, and a 2000Mhz full Duplex FSB.

Surely, AMD will be faster. But would Apple use AMD Athlon 64 X2 in their x86 Macs?

I cant say 100% for sure but I :P hazard :construction: to say "no"

I could be wrong but who knows with AM2, Socket F and Socket S? for mobile? That are due out 2nd Quarter. Its all upto el steveo I would actually love to buy a mac if they went AMD thats why I wont buy one myself. I refuse to run intel's on a powerhouse machine.

Indeed, I think Apple cut a deal with Intel, so they not only got a LOT of Core Duo chips ordered, but probably some technical help integrating the TPM and using the Intel software layer (whatever it's called) that performs the in-line encryption/decryption with little to no perfomance loss.

Just as you need a different motherboard for an AMD cpu (as far as I know there's no motherboard agnostic about accepting EITHER Intel OR AMD), Apple would have to re-tool and change inventory for AMD, which would double their replacement parts or at least increase the amount of inventoried parts which no company likes to do.

I'm much more concerned with Apple computers with TPM than whether they have Intel or AMD... that chip is too much of Big Brother for my taste...
