avatar69
I cant get 10.4.4 to get a network address from my router. The network card is recognized as built in ethernet, but it doesnt acquire a network adress. I have a P4C800E mobo with built in lan, works out of the box in 10.4.3 but not 4.4. I copied over IONetworkingFamily.kext from 10.4.3 to 4.4 rest all permissions, etc. and still nothing. My sound didnt used to work but when I copied over the sound kexts and reset permissions it started working. Can anyone help please? I have an SSE 2 PC - with Maxxus patch 1.0. Everything else works great. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/9340-1044-network-problem/ Share on other sites

temis
repair permissions of 10.4.4 from 10.4.3 and do it again from 10.4.4 it might solve you network problem and some other things in 10.4.4 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/9340-1044-network-problem/#findComment-58227 Share on other sites
Cyman
Good to read this. I got the same problems. I have the same motherboard, too. Can I manually copy the kexts or do I have to copy them via Terminal commands? BTW, what are the necessary kexts I have to copy for getting sound support? Erm, another question. Since sound and network (just as everything else) worked fine for me in 10.4.1 (native) and since I installed 10.4.3 just under VMWare, I can't tell if I can take the depending kext files from 10.4.3 for use in 10.4.4 because basically they are the same, I mean IONetworkingFamily.kext is already there as are the others, too. So my question is, what is the reason sound and networking don't work in 10.4.4 native and how can I get it to work? Can I manually copy the kexts or do I have to copy them via Terminal commands? BTW, what are the necessary kexts I have to copy for getting sound support? Here's what I did: 1) Boot into 10.4.4. 2) sudo cp -R /System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkingFamily.kext /originals/ 3) sudo cp -R /Volumes/"your 10.4.3 volume in quotes"/System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkingFamily.kext /System/Library/Extensions/ 4) rm /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache 5) kextcache -k /System/Library/Extensions 6) reboot.
