Cbeck527
Hi Again, Is it better to install OSX on a secondary HDD or on a partition on the first HDD. So far I have tried to install OSX on the second HDD and it has failed both times. Thanks in advance, Beck Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/9331-hard-drive-question/ Share on other sites
jbjonas
As far as I know, I think the safest bet is always having OSX as the first (or only) partition on the Primary master controller. Personally I haven't had much problem with this, but it is certainly different from system to system. In general, wisdom is to beware of installing to extended partitions. Maybe if you post your system specs and setup, someone else with the same layout can give you better help. However, if you so far have had no luck on the secondary, I would try making a partition on the primary and see what happens. Alternatively (and I don't know your setup here) without messing with the primary drive, you can just swap the drives and do it on the Primary with XP (if thats what you have) in the secondary position. XP should be more than happy to boot just fine from the secondary slot, with a few tweaks to the boot.ini (or once you get OSX on the primary, you could just use darwin's bootloader). But I digress... I need some sleep Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/9331-hard-drive-question/#findComment-58388 Share on other sites
