Apple Boot Screen

The problem i'm having is this: i installed 10.4.8.on a 40 gig sata hard drive and i cant get past the loading screen. you know the thing with the circle on the bottom and the big grey apple. i get past there but i get a black screen no HD light and its just like the monitor has no imput.

 

can you please help me?

System Memory 512 MB (DDR2-400 DDR2 SDRAM)

EDIT: Also i installed it through VMWare so i don't have a boot disk.

ok so all I had to do was install the driver for my gfx card. But I have run into yet another black screen but this time I have a cursor dies anyone know of a fix for this?

Well i've tried booting different flags... and nothing... unfortunately i don't have it anymore... Win XP didn't finish loading and never would... i had to reinstall whole comp

ok so here is what i have figured out the computer runs i can open stuff but i cant see it. so like i will click on the dock and i can see the beachball like its loading so it does work i just need to figue out how to get it so i can see the screen because all that i have now is a black screen and a pointer.

 

has anyone had this problem before?

if so is there a fix?
