My intel machine is not having any issues, however my amd64 box will boot into a graphical background, with the mouse active (no beachball) but nothing follows that. single user works, so I just keep running the ./patcher cpuid_patches.txt from the root and then reboot. It will not proceed forward and doesnot seem to write any errors anywhere? I am still looking around at everything in single mode, but I cannot perform diskutil repairPermissions / (I can, but it just hangs as well) Every time I restart fsck jettisons 7 files from the journal!

I had the same problem.

Try to boot into single user mode. Mount the filesystem read-write. Do this command:

kextcache -z -a i386 -k /System/Library/Extensions

then sync and reboot.

Maxxuss' instructions tell you to use this this command in the wrong way

(kextcache -k /System/Library/Extensions -z -a i386)
