jerbearhtl42 Posted March 11, 2008 Share Posted March 11, 2008 My cousin just gave me an old HP scanner (ScanJet 4300c) that she didn't use anymore. I tried to hook it up to my G4 PowerMac, but it wasn't recognized. I dug around to find drivers and apparently HP didn't make mac driver, they farmed it out to a third party, Second Glance Software. This company's website doesn't exist anymore and any download links I've found for the software, Scantastic, just link back to the Second Glance website. I'm running 10.4. Anyone have any suggestions for finding this software or getting this scanner to work some other way? Thanks for any help you can give me. hecker Posted March 11, 2008 Share Posted March 11, 2008 There is no need to compile SANE. Pre-Compiled versions plus the required libraries can be downloaded from their website. Please remember to read the installation instructions carefully and make sure you install all of the required libraries! jerbearhtl42 Posted March 11, 2008 Author Share Posted March 11, 2008 Well, the good news is the scanner does get recognized now and can scan using the TWAIN interface through Image Capture. The bad news is it doesn't work with the default Image Capture. Not too worried about it, it seems to take way more tinkering than I care to do. May whoever thought of it, and whoever ok'd it, be rendered eternally sterile so they cannot infect the future of the world with their failed and worthless genes.
