Kyl3
I cut my Windows partition down 40GB less with Partition Magic. I did a "create partition primary id=af" and it worked. I put the chain0 file in C:\ and edited boot.ini and the check boot paths indicated everything was fine. Booted OSX disc. Couldn't see the OSX volume so I used the Disk Utility to "erase" the data on the 40 GB partition. Installed OSX. Rebooted. No boot menu! I'm stuck in OSX! However I can see and use the Windows partition from within OSX. In fact I copied all my music from the Windows partition to this one. Any ideas? I really like OSX but I NEED windows. Please try to help.

jbjonas
Tell us what you see. Well what do you see? I guess you got into XP? From here you have many options for a bootloader. Fix darwin's till you like it... switch to XP's... Grub, Lilo, I personally use Acronis 9 because it looks nice (graphical) and is easy for me... There are lots of guides on this in the wiki and the forums here. Search around. I suggest the wiki first.

R. Bear Helms
In OS X, open the System Preferences. From there, click the Startup Disk (bottom row). It should list the Windows system. Click that and restart. If your Windows menu is defaulting to OS X, then use your F8 and whatever you do to get booted into Windows, then run Control Panel > System then click the ADVANCED tab. Click the settings button (3rd down) regarding "Startup and recovery" and make sure your Windows system is selected there as the default.
