Hi All,

I have recently bought a new Athlon XP 64 3200+ and it runs OSX86. Some of the onboard stuff doesnt work, but it installs.

I tried to install onto my laptop, which has a Pentium M 1.7 (SSE2). When the DVD boots, i get the gray apple screen, but no twirly loading symbol.

When I run it with "-v" it lists that it is skipping some Kext's and then a line about ACPI, a date - nothing descriptive. Then thats where it all ends. Nowt. Nothing. Zip.

I tried to disable ACPI in bios - no option.

I tried to disable USB - no option.

I disabled touchpad in bios - no help.

I tried to boot with "platform=ACPI" - didnt help.

I would really like to get it working on my laptop. If anyone has any clues - please let me know.

Cheers

Rich :)

10.4.3 loaded on my ACPI system and I didn't even have to say platform=ACPI (or X86PC) during install.

Find the line on the screen that says panic(cpu yadda yadda), and give us all the yadda's.

Unable to find driver for this platform: "ACPI" is the error I'm having with 10.4.4, actually. And I'm stumped. :/

HP Pavilion zd7260us

macosx_10.4.3_8f1111_for_dtk_userdvd

Tried to patch it with Jas 4.2b

Intel Pentium 4 3.2 Ghz model 0880

Chipset Northbridge Intel i865P/PE/G/i848P rev. A2

Southbridge Intel 82801EB (ICH5) rev. 02

MMX, SSE2

I have a laptop also and I get the panic message

panic (cpu 0 caller 0x002857B0):nfs_boot_init failed with 6

and then after that it lists the 6 failed, I don't know if you need them but I can copy them if I have to. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to fix this. Also it is really weird but after unplugging all the usb devices and using the platform=X86PC prompt the installation loaded, but failed at 90%! It said there was an error and asked me to reboot. I have not been able to get back to the installation screen at all now and find this very peculiar. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Right - more news......... ;)

I have tried 10.4.3 install and it still hangs at the same line. The DVD works on my AMD 64 machine fine, so I know the disc it good.

The last line of text on the screen, after the CPU features etc, is:

ACPI CA 20050916 [debug level=0 layer=0]

Thats where it all ends.

Please can someone help me, im dying to get this working on my laptop.

Try to boot from the OSx86 10.4.4 (incl. update to 10.4.5) Installer DVD - I got past that "ACPI crash point" on an Amilo M7424 by booting from that pre-patched DVD. The USB controller seems to be picky, however - it doesn't boot my pre-installed OSx86 from external USB HDD so far (tried 10.4.3 and 10.4.5). No idea if the installation will boot from the built-in HDD... going to check it (swap drives). Also "pre-booting" with the DVD and then choosing the root device to point to the external HDD (with the rd=/dev/disk?s? option) might work - maybe...
