Simple Installation Question

Hi, I just learned of this whole project the other day. I have gotten the 10.4.8 Jas version, and have a simple question. I have Vista installed currently, and want to add a partition for OS X. The installation guide on the wiki suggests that I have to have a Vista install disc to have a dual boot. Can I just add a partition to the HD and install it to that or do I have to clear my HD and start fresh? Thanks!

You can add a partition using a program such as Acronis Disk Director Suite (Find it on the bay)

Use this to create a FAT32 partition, set it to Primary, and once in the install disc, use the Disk Utility provided to erase that FAT32 and re-format it as Mac.

It's alot simpler than it sounds, but it answer your simple question, Yes.

There probably are, though I've never worked with them.

Acronis is pretty much one of the easiest ways to do it.

You can do it with any program as long as you make it a FAT32 partition, and make sure it's primary.

After that, the Disk Utility on the OSX86 disc will handle it, and reformat it.

I made a partition using Partition Magic in the FAT32 format as you suggested. When loading the installer my only option still was my DVD drive. Do you think for some reason Tiger can't read my hard drive itself?
