    Randomness. Worst Windows OS?

    Windows 2000 was dreadful.
  2. Hey guys, I used to dualboot Vista and Leopard on my Gateway MT6821, however, due to the 3945 Wireless being stupid, I ended up just scrapping Leopard. However, I'm beginning to go into withdrawal using Vista, so I'm looking for a really cheap wireless card that is Leopard supported and would work with my laptop? The specs can be found here: http://support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/2007/O...14127Rsp2.shtml Anything below $25 would be really nice! I'm not looking to replace the 3945, just add something to the "Type II PC Card Bus slot" I'm assuming? Basically, anything that holds a connection. I'll never be more than 10-15 feet away from the base. And how easy are these to install? Does it stick out of the slot at all? Thanks!

    Leopard freezes, why?

Never actually heard of getting sleep working on a flat image. You don't actually hear much about flat images at all these days. Sorry.

    usb flash disk

Someone probably could if you gave us ANY information to work with. What OSX release are you using? Computer specs? Installation method? ANYTHING? I really have no clue how you expect us to do anything with what you gave.

    AMD hackintosh

Most often this means the disc somehow missed that file in the burning process. Try re-burning the disc at the lowest possible speed, with a high quality DVD, and verify the data. Otherwise, you could always search.

    Leopard freezes, why?

Is your computer set to not go to sleep? I'm not sure if the flat images have sleep fully working.
  7. Internet Explorer 8 - Beta 1 has finally been released by Microsoft! Try it for yourself, it will replace IE7, but in IE8 you can "emulate" IE7, or you can always uninstall. Please post any opinions you have! Download IE8: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/...ess/Install.htm --------------------------------------------------------------- New Features of IE8: Activities Activities are contextual services to quickly access a service from any webpage. Users typically copy and paste from one webpage to another. Internet Explorer 8 Activities make this common pattern easier to do. Activities typically involve two types of scenarios: "look up" information within a webpage or "send" web content to a web application. For example, a user is interested in a restaurant and wants to see the location of it. This is the form of a "look up" Activity where the user selects the address and views an in-place view of the map using his favorite map service. An example of a "send" Activity is a user reads an interesting article and wants to blog about a portion of the article. The user can select a portion of the article and uses the blog Activity. This navigates to the user’s blog site with the selection already available in the edit field. Activities are services that the user can install and manage. Users can install them from the Internet Explorer 8 Service Guide or through any website that advertises Activities. --------------------------------------------------------------- WebSlices WebSlices is a new feature for websites to connect to their users by subscribing to content directly within a webpage. WebSlices behave just like feeds where clients can subscribe to get updates and notify the user of changes. Internet Explorer 8 Users can discover WebSlices within a webpage and add them to the Favorites bar, a dedicated row below the Address bar for easy access to links. Internet Explorer 8 subscribes to the webpage, detects changes in the WebSlice, and notifies the user of updates. Users can preview these updates directly from the Favorites bar and click-through to the website to get more information. --------------------------------------------------------------- Favorites Bar In Internet Explorer 7, the Links bar provided users with one-click access to their favorite sites. The Links bar has undergone a complete makeover for Internet Explorer 8. It has been renamed the Favorites bar to enable users to associate this bar as a place to put and easily access all their favorite web content such as links, feeds, WebSlices and even Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents. A user can easily add a link to the Favorites bar by using the Add to Favorites button and selecting the Add to Favorites Bar option. --------------------------------------------------------------- Automatic Crash Recovery Automatic Crash Recovery (ACR) is a feature of Windows®Internet Explorer® 8 that can help to prevent the loss of work and productivity in the unlikely event of the browser crashing or hanging. The ACR feature takes advantage of the Loosely-Coupled Internet Explorer feature to provide new crash recovery capabilities, such as tab recovery, which will minimize interruptions to users’ browsing sessions. See Automatic Crash Recovery white paper for more information. --------------------------------------------------------------- Improved Phishing Filter Internet Explorer 7 introduced the Phishing Filter, a feature which helps warn users when they visit a Phishing site. Phishing sites spoof a trusted legitimate site, with the goal of stealing the user’s personal or financial information. For Internet Explorer 8, we are building on the success of the Phishing Filter with a more comprehensive feature called the "Safety Filter." For IT administrators, new Group Policy options are available to remove the user-override option and fully block access to known unsafe sites. --------------------------------------------------------------- Again, download available here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/...ess/Install.htm EDIT: To uninstall, make sure you have updates showing in your Add/Remove Programs.
  8. I would run a live CD and grab them off there, an Ubuntu or Knoppix Live CD possibly?

    Gateway MX6433...I give up

I'm wondering why you would have downloaded 10.4.6? Get JaS's 10.4.8 disc, it's much more stable and has more features. However, if you still want to use the disc you have, just make sure you create a FAT32 partition, then boot from the 10.4.6 disc, use your Disk Utility to erase the disk using Mac OSX Extended Journal, and have fun.

Thanks so much for all of the work you've done. :) Your 10.4.8 release has been by far the most stable and responsive OSX86 release I've used to date.

    PCWiz OS X Kernel Installer

Great idea, installing Kernels is kind of a scary process, even when you know how to do it, because if you mess it up, there goes your system.

    Upgrade from 10.4.8 to 10.4.11

You can upgrade one at a time, but there is no magical fix to update from 10.3 to 10.5.2 or anything As for how to update one by one, I'll let you look for yourself, try starting in the Tutorials (Genius Bar).

    Intel Wifi 3945 driver solution?

It's harder than you think to develop a driver. There is constant progress on it, in the following topic: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=84072 So unless you can develop a driver for us, just be happy with the progress, help test their drivers for them, provide logs, and shut up and wait. As for why your ethernet working, you'd have to provide a little more information if you were wanting help.

    Tiger on this rig?

Fixing the Yukon 56 is easy. 1) Open Terminal 2) Type: sudo nano /System/Library/Extensions/IONetworking.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleYukon.kext/Contents/Info.plist 3) Scroll through the file, find the (<key>Yukon-88E8053</key>) and change it to (<key>Yukon-88E8056</key>) 4) Scroll and find (<string>Yukon Gigabit Adapter 88E8053</string>) and change it to (<string>Yukon Gigabit Adapter 88E8056</string>) 5) Scroll and find (<string>0x436211AB</string>) and change it to (<string>0x436411AB</string>) 6) Press CTRL + O 7) Hit Enter 8) Press CTRL + X 9) Go and repair permissions using Disk Utility 10) Go to /System/Library and delete both "Extensions.mkext" and "Extensions.kextcache" Reboot and enjoy! Hopefully it's fairly straight forward.
