Cywhy
Hello, I have downloaded the kalyway 10.5 iso. I attempted to install it on my Dell Dimension E520, the installer starts, I format the drive it all works, it says install was sucessfull, but when I restart nothing happens, it just stops at a blinking cursor. (I haven't applied any patchs either) Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance, Cywhy EDIT: I tried installing again but this time it actually said installation failed. Cywhy
After going through the forums I realized, that to get it to boot I shouldn't have any spaces in my volume name (I had named my volume Mac OS X)so then I deleted that volume and made a new one called Leopard. When the install finished instead of a blinking cursor I'm getting a b0 error. Perhaps it's the bootloader. Thanks in Advance, Cywhy Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/91533-kalyway-e520/#findComment-654377 Share on other sites
Deviant0ne
If you formatted the drive GUID, make sure you use the PC EFI GUID version. The same goes for MBR. It was my understanding that you need PC EFI to use GUID (though I could be wrong), so if you formatted the drive GUID and didn't install the GUID PC EFI, that could be your problem. Cywhy
I was using GUID, but when I change to mbr it doesn't give me the b0 error or the blinking cursor it says loading Darwin x86, it quickly shows some other text and reboots endlessly. Cywhy
OK I fixed almost all my problems of the install by not installing the vanilla kernel it actually worked. So now I'm in the setup, where it hangs at Do you already own a Mac? I press transfer later, and next but it gives me a spinning wheel, then restarts the welcome video. Help needed. Thanks in advance, Cywhy I solved this problem on my E520 by installing over a Tiger partition. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...151&hl=e520 BTW Vanilla kernel works nicely on E520 once you install PC_EFI Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/91533-kalyway-e520/#findComment-691139 Share on other sites
