Hi,

First time poster here, hello everyone :P

I tried this guide http://inihilist.wordpress.com/2008/01/07/...of/#comment-878

, following it exactly with the right torrent. After step 4. it says "System config file ‘/com.apple.Boot.plist' not found. My burn speed was x4.

System:

Processor: Intel e6300

Mobo: abit AB9

Graphics card: 7900 GS

Other people have had this same error but no answer was given on the blog I linked. What should I do?

EDIT: Always use the search before asking... :S Forgot that, sorry. There's already threads about this. I'll read them, you can delete this if you think it's redundant.

Yes as you can see there is no exact solution for this problem. First of all i suggest you to use SATA DVD drive and SATA HDD. Unplug all IDE components. Most X86 install releases needs SATA components to prevent this error. Depending on the mobo chipset some IDE works and some does not. This is the first step. Try and return the results here.

Can someone answer if the IDE DVD is the problem? I'm thinking of buying a SATA DVD drive just for this and it would suck if I bought it just to realize that the DVD drive wasn't the problem? So do you guys recommend buying it? And what model?

Anyone been able to fix this problem (guess not :/)? I've tried changing just about everything from BIOS with many different hackintosh releases but nothing works...

EDIT: Actually I might have SCSI, not IDE..? What does that mean? Device Manager shows: LITE-ON DVDRW LH-18A1H SCSI CdRom Device

As i said before IDE DVD IS THE PROBLEM. For example take a look at this link. He's a happy customer now lol :P

We have diffrent mobos but in most cases the latest x86 releases don't like ide hardware even an IDE DVD in a USB Box doesn't work.

If you can, just try a SATA DVD drive. 99.9999999% it will work ;)

PS: Even if you've found and plugged a SATA DVD, don't leave old IDE dvd plugged. JUST-UNPLUG-IT.

Or it won't work.

Here is what I've found:

I seem to encounter that error when I don't install the PC_EFI and correctly mark the partitions as active. I partition and install the bootloader from another Mac OS, and once the disk is all set up, install Mac OS to that disk. Of course, I test the disk before install Mac OS on it to make sure I partitioned correct. What seems to happen is, if you did it wrong, you get "/com.apple.Boot.plist not found." If you did it right, you get a full path: "/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist not found." Try reinstalling the EFI bootloader and marking the partitions again.
