soundandvision88
OK, so I've managed to get the iATKOS boot disc to install with r2. However, after completion I only got the blinking "_" I did some searching and found an EqUaTe patch for it. Installs, but somehow about 75% into installation it hangs for a while then automatically restarts... no message or anything. I decided to try to boot it, and everything seemed OK for a few seconds until a gray overlay with the message "Need to restart computer" shows up. And, of course, this happens every single time. Anyone else have this problem and know how to fix it? Does it have something to do with what I select in custom install? (For bootloaders I've tried both EFI with all things under it selected and with only first thing selected... I think other than that I just use the NVInject drivers but I could be leaving something out). Any help is greatly appreciated Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/90719-need-to-restart-at-apple-boot-screeninstallation-restarts-without-message/ Share on other sites
soundandvision88
Hmmm... so I've tried the regular x86 bootloader (not the EFI) and am still having the same problem. Can't seem to figure out what the problem is. I've been trying to get osx86 on my system for days now. Peppie
Are you sure you are installing darwin bootloader? Most of the time, the blinkinb underscore is caused by no bootloader. soundandvision88
Yeah, I fixed that part. Now it's just that after it does boot a couple seconds after the gray apple boot screen shows a dark overlay slides down telling me I need to restart my computer. aqua-mac
Did you try holding down f8 as your computer boots to the grey screen. Then press -f -v (leave a space between the -f and -v. This will boot you in verbose mode and should give you some info on why possibly your computer won't boot. soundandvision88
Haven't tried the -f but have tried the -v. It just hangs on one message. Forget what it was but it didn't seem very relevant. Has anybody else had this problem? I'm so close to getting this to work, I'm very anxious to figure this out. When your system kernel panics, it will often have a very relevant message prior to the panic. Don't just look at the last line in verbose, it's usually a few lines before the panic. Without knowing the cause, it's going to be very difficult to sort out a solution. MiJKa
Appearances can be deceiving. What it hangs on may seem insignificant and be important. OR it may be right before something really important. Someone might just know what that something is and be able to help you out. Might be worth checking again, dude. soundandvision88
Here's what I get with the -f -v command. Nothing particularly jumps out. What seems most strange though is the fact that the installer quits about 75% of the way into it. jskandhari_ULV_User
Hmm... has anybody else had something anywhere near this problem and have a solution as well? hi finally someone with nearly the same problem as mine even i get a restart message the only diff is i installed using a flat image on to my external but on booting its the same and here is the pic of what you are talking if you get it to work kindly post it on http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...t=0#entry656145 have been looking at this screen for last two days straight Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/90719-need-to-restart-at-apple-boot-screeninstallation-restarts-without-message/#findComment-656183 Share on other sites
soundandvision88
Yup, that's exactly the problem I have. At the risk of sounding dumb I'm not quite sure what a flat image is (retail Leopard?), but the restart screen is as far as I've got. Can't wait to (hopefully) get this fixed! soundandvision88
So wait, I need to delete every .kext under System/Library/Extensions that has to do with GeForce or NVidia? This is what will have to be deleted if I'm correct: System/Library/Extensions/GeForce.kext System/Library/Extensions/GeForce2MXGLDriver.bundle System/Library/Extensions/GeForce3GLDriver.bundle System/Library/Extensions/GeForce8xxxGLDriver.bundle System/Library/Extensions/GeForceFXGLDriver.bundle System/Library/Extensions/GeForceGA.plugin System/Library/Extensions/GeForce.bundle System/Library/Extensions/NDVANV10Hal.kext System/Library/Extensions/NDVANV20Hal.kext System/Library/Extensions/NDVANV30Hal.kext System/Library/Extensions/NDVANV40Hal.kext System/Library/Extensions/NDVANV50Hal.kext System/Library/Extensions/NDVAResman.kext System/Library/Extensions/NVInject.kext I imagine I'm probably wrong on some of these. Do you mind clarifying which should go and which should stay? Thanks!
