Eruc
Setup : 2 HD in RAID 0 on my Windows Vista x64 system How can I install Leopard and keep this RAID array for windows? NoMax
I had the same issue. Solution is to install LEO to an external USB disk. Problem is you won't be able to see your Windows disks from within LEO. Just choose what disk to boot up from at system startup. (BIOS must support booting from USB disk!!!) Eruc
I dont want OSx running on external HD... Thats dumb... Why should i go from a RAID SATA connection to a freaking USB2 slow connection... Anyway, is there a way i could make a RAID with the 1st, lets say 400gb (got 2x250) and then have 2x50g not in raid? or is this impossible? (I belive it's not but b4 this setup, i was new to RAID) Otherwise i'm thinking about removing this RAID arrays... The upgrade in performance wasnt what i was expecting anyway... (Maybe with an PCI RAID controller it would of been better...) Anyway, I'm waiting for an answer before reinstalling windows and osx! Thanks. Spotta
hmm. I also have 2xRAID for my OS drive and have been struggling to get OSX installed, but I also have an nforce chipset and when I install it doesn't recognise my SATA hdd's not RAID either, I'm just burning an iso with EqUaTe's patch to try that. If I get no luck with that then I was intending to try it on an IDE drive - but a USB one must be painfully slow. drunknbass
osx on hacks has slower disk speeds usally when compared to real macs. so a raid is pretty helpful. also unless osx has drivers for your raid chipset you wont be using it.. i bought a rocketraid 2300 and finally got a raid0 array booting leopard with guid efi vanilla kernel. here are my disk speeds with a single 750 seagate before the raid and 2 750's raid0 , this is in a 1x pci slot, i dont know how much better id do in a 4x like it is suppose to go in. http://db.xbench.com/merge.xhtml?doc1=272193&doc2=272899 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/90681-2-hd-in-raid-on-my-windows-vista-x64-system/#findComment-648514 Share on other sites
Spotta
Well, the patch I was able to see all my Sata drives. it reconised the raptors, but not the fact that they were configured as RAID. I installed to one of 320GB data drives and have at last joined the world of OSX after about 18hrs of trying, and a pile of DVDs that didn't work on the floor.
