Mike The NVIDIA GeForce 8600m GT is good for many games. Wont be able to have direct x 10, so no Crysis in "very high" or Halo 2 (and vista is not recommended). Most of the games will work ok. You will not be able to have the latest games with best video settings, but for at least the next 2 years, games will be compatible. Do you know if its 512 or 256 mb of video memory? MacMike Posted March 4, 2008 Author Share Posted March 4, 2008 i am going to buy the 512 MB version. its not vista compatible? how come? even my old geforce 7800GT on my desktop is vista compatible. for gaming i have any way my desktop. but sometimes when i met friends where i know i will play call of duty 4 i would like to get my mac to play on. so is the is 8600m GT good enough for Call of Duty 4? Korrupted Posted March 4, 2008 Share Posted March 4, 2008 The 8600M should be fine for vista and COD4..probably won't get 999999999999999999FPS at 99999999x999999999 resolution, but it should certainly run more comfortably than say a radeon x1600 on a firstgen MBP.
