(be sure you have the pc speaker hooked up so you can hear them) If not double check everything. If you stiil get nothing it's probably a dead mobo. nate256
when i turn on the power supply i see a green light turn on, on the motherboard. I also hear a very faint whin like something is spining up but than it goes away after i press th epower botton. the led at the power button goes on but the HDD led doesnt. could it be the connectors that connect the from to the mobo?i got some more input, when i turn it on now my cpu fan turns on for half a sec. and you can hear my HDD boot but only for like half a sec. than it turns off again. vaporATX
You've built computers before, right? Check all your connections, but if you are getting no video, and no initial single beep, something ain't right. Does you mobo have built-in video? If it does double check all you panel connections, pull everything but the memory, and hook up to the built-in video and see if it'll post. If it doesn't I'd suspect it's a bad mobo. nate256
If the mobo is dead, would the cpu fan and light and also the case fan begin to turn on? i do not have built in video. Also next to the power connector a green light comes on. I also hear something booting up but than stop after just a little. It is like it works fro 1/2 sec.also my LAN port turns on fro a little too. it flashes green. Yes, all the fans and stuff will power on even if the board won't post. What's the make and model of the mobo? vaporATX
Can't think of anything else it could be but a bad board. I'd go over everything else again... make sure the cpu is seated right, the cooler is mounted correctly, check all connections again, but if it's not posting at all it doesn't sound good. He's intel's checklist if you want to go through that: http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/...b/CS-010254.htm Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/90367-porblem-with-hardware-install/#findComment-645067 Share on other sites

Tyrone Shoe
Just in case you haven't done it already, pull all your drives out of the system. also pull out any add-in cards (except your video). If you have multiple memory chips installed, remove them and only install enough to POST. Remove any extra fans other than your CPU fan. You shouldn't need anything more than RAM and a video card to at least get a POST screen. If at that point, you still don't get any video up on your screen, it probably is a dead mobo. If you do POST successfully, start adding things back in until it hoses up again. I assume you didn't get a crappy PSU for your case? I've seen some of the real bargain bin supplies brown out with very little extra hardware connected.
