I'm running 10.5.2 and just tried installing MATLAB on my machine. The installer went fine, the licensing went fine, but when I try and actually run the app, no dice. The splash screen displays for a second, disappears, and I get a window titled X11 that looks a lot like Terminal.

(a) What is X11?

(B) Any ideas on how to fix this? (It's probably something simple, but having no idea what X11 is, I'm not sure what to do)

X11 is a widely used windowing system for UNIX graphical interfaces,

The window you get with an X11 title indicates that you have X11 installed on your Mac. The crash might be an incompatibility between your version of MATLAB and Leopard. My only advice is to make sure you have the latest version of MATLAB and check their forums for tips.
