mtotho
I can only assume that leopard, like windows, needs to be given a defrag once in a while.. I got the program called Disk Genius.. all my hard drives had exclamation marks next to them.. as in, i could not select them. Is it neccessary to defrag leopard? I am running the hackintosh, up to date, that is in my sig. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/89782-disk-defrag/ Share on other sites
vaporATX
I can only assume that leopard, like windows, needs to be given a defrag once in a while.. No, it doesn't. Modern journaled file systems like HFS+, ext3, UFS, etc... don't need to be defragged. Windows is an archaic POS and like everything Microsoft makes it is half-ass and requires defragging not because NTFS is all that bad of a file system, but because the operating system is poorly designed and keeps its swap file on the same partition as the data and system files by default.
