could you point me to some guide cos i found few guides but none of them explains how to perform a clean instalation of leo itself. there is alway a dual boot with vista ect.

i step by step guide would be the best.

I wouldn't recommend doing this simply as OS X is still unstable to run on a PC, so do this entirely at your own risk.

  1. Boot from the Leopard Install DVD
  2. When available, open the Utilities menu and load Disk Utility
  3. Select your drive from the left hand side, and click the partition tab
  4. Select "1 Partition" from the dropdown
  5. Partition the drive, and format the partition as Apple HFS Journaled (Extended) (HFS+)
  6. Install Leopard as usual

All of the builds of OSX have issues with standard x86-based PC's, because they weren't built for them. Everything could work fine and you may never have an issue; however, there's a chance that once you get past the installation, you won't be able to get your network/display/sound to work properly. It really is entirely unpredictable. I would dual boot for now, and if you get everything working right, then delete your XP partition and expand your OS X partition.

I was able to easily install osx on an external usb hdd on my laptop. That allows you to leave your comp completely original and just disconnect the usb drive when desired and go back to windows. You can then experiment with different distros available and decide what works best for you. Ideally you can use two externals, and switch back and forth, and decide from there what works best for you.
