Alright, this is more of a prove that I can do it, and if I can't, then I cant. I have an HP 510 notebook which i will give the specs for in a minute, and I was wondering if it is possible to dualboot on the machine with Leopard, and if not leopard, would Tiger be possible. I know it wont run at lightning speed with this build, but it is more of just the doing than it is the practicality of it. Let me know what you think:

Motherboard: HP Model 30C4

CPU: Intel Celeron M 370 1.5Ghz MMX, SSE, SSE2

Ram: 512Mb DDR2

This is all from CPU-z, but as I was writing all that I decided to pull the information from a PDF of the 510 Models and that is as follows:

If any more information is needed, let me know.

Thank you for all your help,

-Spiegel

Well, I see the issue with Leopard, though I wont rule out trying Tiger just to see where I can get. I think I might need to prepare everything for a weekend project...

Thank you for the reply, and what model HP did you try with might I ask?

-Spiegel

I believe it was an SR1103WM Desktop PC.

I also tried it on an HP laptop last year, but I can't remember the model name or number, but it had similiar specs as yours, just a slower processor.

Tiger might work, all you can do is try to boot it and press F8 and -v and see if it hangs.

  • 1 month later...

I've successfully installed JAS 10.4.7 on my HP 510 specifying at boot

platform=ACPI -f -v

and disabling WLAN while DVD start up.

Unfortunately after restart it hang with the following message:

error mapping module file com.apple.driver.AppleIntel8254XEthernet.

Can't map com.apple.driver.AppleIntel8254XEthernet. in preparation for loading.

Couldn't alloc class "AppleIntel8254XEthernet"

IOPCCard info:Intel PCIC Probe: not found.

IOPCCardBridge::start failed

Still waiting for root device

I'm stuck @ this point.

Any help appreciated.

thanks in advance

Maybe I'll ask in another thread after doing some search and I'll update here also.
