Boot with your Leo DVD, go to Disk utility and restore from there....hope it works

If you know what files you ;} lost, you can boot DVD -s and try to manualy recover them, but you gotta know where there are on the backup, and where they need to go.

good luck

kenny

BTW, boot with -x might get you in

I'm dumb... I just realized I can restore with time machine off the install DVD, 15 minutes left. If this doesn't work I will be back.

Nice timing LOL Yea, I tried -x, nada... But this seems to be going ok so far.

Do a bless -device /dev/rdiskXsx -Boot verbose, you need to rewrite the mbr. Did you also use fdisk -e etc to make the partition active?

It's also possible the EFI didn't install correctly. Start with fdisk, then unmount and use the EFI script from EFI 8 (change locations according to what disk utility says the partition is called), then bless and it should start. You can do this over and over again, it doesn't interfere with the restored Leopard.

Ok this is getting more frustrating.. I did the bless -device, I have reinstalled EFI 3 times, I have made remade the partition active numerous times.....Whats more aggravating is the fact that the diskXsY is always changing! One boot it is disk1s1, next it's disk3s1, and now it decides it is disk2s1..... I haven't changed anything in my BIOS or anywhere, I just reboot.... It's never the same it seems, or if it is, it changes. Very annoying.. Is there a reason this is happening?

I've never seen it change that much, but it's possible, you can never assume the disc nr. beforehand (as I've read in guides) because of this. Don't know why exactly. So, you're not seeing any difference regarding the blinking cursor? What would be helpful is for you to exactly write down the steps you're taking, give me a list of the exact actions if you want (including bios settings, where you're booting up from, etc)...

I'm just going to reinstall, I have that down now after two days, so it should only take me an hour to have it all installed and my files transferred. I've learned my lesson, TimeMachine doesn't work for a full system wide restore...
